The NOAA field trips were a big hit this week. We were given 2 copies of a children's book about NOAA's role in fisheries management that we have added to our Raven library. Please come by and check it out for your family. Next week we have a float plane field trip and the Zipline Adventure at Eaglecrest. ~Joan

Here's an update on our enrollment progress for our office:

~Currently enrolled students 15-16: 209

~Enrolled students for 16-17: 120 (up 4 from last week)

Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge Begins - May 9

Jump on board for a fun nation-wide reading challenge that runs May 9-Sept 9 and “Be a Reading Superhero!” Register your student online at www.scholastic.com/summer or email us to do it for you so that they can log their reading minutes, earn digital rewards, learn about their favorite authors, and try to help our school win the “Best in State” recognition for AK and be mentioned in The Scholastic Book of World Records. Keep your skills sharp by reading all summer long!

Meet us at the Raven Office, and then we will carpool to the airport to get a tour of a Cessna 206 float plane by Gary Thompson. Students will get to learn about how the controls work and sit in the pilot’s seat. RSVP is required to juneau@yksd.com or below since each time slot is limited to 12 participants total.

IDEA Curriculum Fair - Thurs, May 12

Don't forget to stop by the IDEA Curriculum Fair to take a look at curriculum for next school year and attend useful workshops.

Zipline Adventure - Fri, May 13

We are looking forward to soaring through the trees with the families who signed up for this field trip. For those who are attending this trip, the participation form and time details will be sent out at the beginning of the week.

Note: this activity is already full.

Appreciation cards/treats for JPD - Drop off by May 13

There is a family collecting cards and treats of appreciation from several local schools to give to the Juneau Police Department. Please help us to contribute a good showing from the homeschool community to include in this project. All donations will be picked up at the Raven office on May 13.
