FLC: Understanding Students to Foster Success
When you talk about your students, do you find yourself beginning many of your sentences with, “My students should know…” or “My students should have learned X in high school, but...” ?
The purpose of this Faculty Learning Community (FLC) is to get to know our students so we can better prepare them to succeed in their college careers. Who are Georgia Southern Students? What competencies do they have, and what competencies can we help them develop to become successful college students? These are some of the major questions we'll seek to answer through readings and conversations. Contributing are other campus units, including FYE and Housing, who will share their perspectives on our students. By the end of this FLC, you will gain a deeper understanding of who your students are and pedagogical strategies you can employ to promote improved learning in your classroom.
Tuesdays, October 16, 23, 30, and November 6 (attendance at all meetings expected)
