Honesty and Integrity
This month's soft skill initiative is honesty & integrity. Integrity is also a life skill we emphasize throughout the year at Noble Crossing - "do the right thing, even if you don't feel like it" is truly something to live by. I think it's important for kids to know that even when no one sees them doing the right thing, it is worthy of their effort. This relates well to our growth mindset culture in that sometimes the work we put in isn't for any type of reward, or tiger ticket, but just because we can feel proud of the accomplishment in an of itself. I feel fortunate to work with this year's class because they really are a group of kind, honest, and good people. Thank you for sharing them with me!

Next Week's Set List (November 2-6)
Week at a Glance/Skills for the Week:
LITERACY – We will turn our attention to learning how to discuss and talk about our reading in a justifiable way by providing evidence for our thinking. Instead of book clubs, we will complete our next Novel Study as a whole group of Maniac Magee.
WRITING – We will continue our unit on persuasive and opinion writing.
MATH – We will finish Unit 4, which focuses on division and measurement. The unit test is on Thursday, November 5th.
SPELLING – We will test on Thursday. Unit 2 5th grade words: among, does, written, single, and build. Unit 9 4th grade words: notice, special, toward, people, and kept.
SCIENCE – We continue our unit on Force and Motion by completing a mini soap box derby! A special thank you to Bob and Katrina Getts for sharing the expertise and resources with our classroom. Students will experience hands on STEM learning while exploring their knowledge of force and motion. We also continue our Project Based Learning by answering How do we make transportation safer? By the end of the unit, students will create a product to share with their community on how to increase safety of transportation.
SOCIAL STUDIES – We are taking a break from Social Studies and will resume later in the school year.
TIPS - We will continue to use Time for Kids magazines to explore nonfiction text features, and small groups will meet to practice skills identified as areas of need from NWEA testing.
