ACT Test information

If you have a sophomore or junior who plans to take dual credit courses, they should begin looking at taking the ACT. ACT scores are required for some universities to admit students for dual credit courses. Their ACT score can also be tied to scholarship offers when they apply to college their senior year. The ACT can be taken 12 times in total.

AHS will not offer the ACT until December. Marionville High School will offer the test in October. If your student wishes to take the test at Marionville, they will choose that testing site during registration.

What is the PSAT?

The Preliminary SAT, also known as the PSAT/NMSQT® (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), is a practice version of the SAT exam. Students can only take the PSAT once per year, and many students take the test in both 10th and 11th grade. If a student earns a high score on the PSAT their junior year, they could qualify to receive a National Merit Scholarship—$180 million dollars in merit scholarships are awarded to students each year. The PSAT is 2 hours and 45 minutes long and tests your skills in reading, writing, and math.

When is the PSAT offered?

AHS is scheduled to give this test on October 14, 2020. The fee to take this test is $17.00.

If your student would like to take the PSAT/NMSQT they will need to sign up with Mrs. Traci in the counselor’s office and bring the payment with them when they sign up. Sign up deadline is October 1.
