February 1, 2021
As unusual as this year has been, it was still hard to believe that we have not only surpassed but excelled during the first 100 days of school! Jackson students celebrated last Friday with many fun 100's themed activities.
The month of January has provided many opportunities to celebrate our students' academic skills as well as the character traits they exhibit daily. Our Spelling Bee competition had us on the edge of our seats, and we are now pleased to announce the results of Jackson's Science Fair and our Jaguars of the Month for January! We are so proud of our students! Please see our Science Fair and Jaguars of the Month recognition sections below.
Today was Picture Day for Jackson's Face2Face students and tomorrow, Tuesday, February 2, is for School@Home students or make-ups. It is not too late for School@Home students to schedule a picture time. It would be great to have all of our students' pictures in the 2020-21 yearbook!
During the week of February 8 - 12, we will be celebrating friendship and kindness at Jackson. Students are encouraged to participate in the daily themes (see flyer below), the Kindness Challenges and other activities our counselors have prepared. Friendship parties will be on Friday, February 12. We hope that all our students will get the opportunity to experience the rewarding feeling that comes from being kind to others.
Thanks,
Kamili Carthledge, Assistant Principal

Instructional Environment Change Selection Period
Plano ISD understands that families may want to change their instructional environment based on the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Changes may be made beginning February 15 through February 19 for the fourth 9-weeks grading period. These changes will become effective on the March 15, the first day of the fourth 9-week grading period, through the end of the grading cycle.
Parents Who Do NOT Want to Make a Change of Environment – NO ACTION REQUIRED
Process for Changing Instructional Environment Selection
- All primary guardians will receive a notification prior to the change selection period.
Changes may be made in the Parent Portal.- Instructions on how to complete the process are located in the Parent Portal.
- Elementary students changing their environment may be assigned to a new teacher. Change in environment will almost always result in a teacher change.
Please Note: The Texas Education Agency has issued guidance that allows school districts to stop offering virtual instruction to individual students with poor grades or attendance. Campuses will notify parents if a student’s attendance and/or academic performance in one or more classes puts them at significant risk of severe learning loss in the PISD School@Home or the hybrid schedule remote days.
