SSMS Weekly Update
April 29, 2022
Hello SSMS Tiger Nation,
Bike safety reminders for students - when walking to school from Belterra, students should use the sidewalks nearest the school, right in front of the flag poles, when cycling south on Sawyer Ranch Road. If you have to cross an intersection, students should always walk their bike across and watch for oncoming traffic. Last but not least, protect your noggin and always wear a helmet.
This week's Student Leadership Spotlight is our Volunteer Club. This club meets during Fun Fridays and has recently worked to clean up our grade level pods, conduct an outside campus clean up, deliver carnations and cards for staff on Valentine’s day, create signs for Special Olympics March Madness, and make dog treats for PAWS in Dripping Springs.
This month, Volunteer Club members made Welcome Home kits for Foster Village and had a guest speaker. Students have also created cards for Veterans. It has been a joy to see the way students love to give and volunteer!
Please see below for information on Teacher Appreciation Week next week, May 2-6.
Be sure your child continues to bring their district-owned Chromebook and charger, if they have one, every day to school as we set up the software for STAAR testing.

Hey SSMS parents, if you haven't ordered a yearbook for your student yet, please take a moment to do that now. Sales end on Friday, May 6, and there are fewer than 50 copies still available. Visit https://linktr.ee/sycamorespringsyb to order.
Not sure if you purchased a book? Here's a few ways you can check:
- If you provided an email address when you purchased a yearbook, you should have received an email from Balfour on Wednesday confirming that you are on the yearbook distribution list.
- If you didn't get an email, but still think you ordered, search for a receipt from "Balfour.com" in your email inbox. Make sure it is from August 2021 or later, and that it shows an SSMS yearbook purchase (not just an ad purchase, for example).
- You can search our yearbook order list at https://linktr.ee/sycamorespringsyb for your student's name.
Yearbooks should be arriving in about three weeks, and we will send out a notice in the SSMS Weekly News update once we have finalized our distribution plans! Any other yearbook questions can be sent to email@example.com. Thanks for your support!
Exciting Announcement - Additional Counselor for 2022-23 - Sandy Zimmerman
As all of you might know by now, our first ever semi-formal school dance is this May 6th from 6:15 PM until 8:30 PM. Students must go home after school and then come back for dance at opening time (6:15 PM). Please make sure you pick up your student no later than 8:30 PM at the SSMS cafeteria in the back of the school. The school dress code will be enforced. Students are encouraged to dress their best - think slacks, ties, suits, and dresses (no strapless dresses).
There will be drinks and snacks to purchase at the inside concession stand.
We are so excited to have our SSMS staff chaperone this dance and watch our students have a wonderful time!

Tiger Tip Line
The Tiger Tip Line allows students or parents to report concerns about bullying, other social issues, or security matters. The name of the school must be included, and it is requested that details of an incident being reported include location, time, date, and any available information about who was involved to help administrators investigate. Tips can be made anonymously or with a name. However, please note that administrators are able to do a more thorough job investigating tips when they can contact the reporting party for additional information.
It is important to note that messages are received during business hours only as they are checked by school administrators.
