Principal's Message

Dear Eagles,

As you may have heard we have a tentative reopening date of March 15th! We are hopeful and excited that we will finally be able to return to on campus instruction very soon! We know that you have many questions about what this will look like and what steps we have and will be taking to ensure your children and our staff remain safe during these uncertain times. Please be looking for a separate newsletter that will be sent home from TVUSD later today that has important information with regard to our site specific plans and procedures for reopening. Included in this other newsletter will be a short reopening video which will hopefully allow you to see that the safety and well-being of our students and staff are of utmost importance to us and therefore school will need to look a little different even when we return.

Back in October families were given an opportunity to choose whether you would like/need for your child to remain online (even if our campus reopened) or if you would like them to return to in-person instruction. On Monday, you will receive an email from TVUSD that will remind you of your selection and give you an opportunity to either keep or change that selection. Or, if for whatever reason you did not ever make a selection you may do so with a new survey that will be attached.

Please know that in creating new rosters for our return to on campus learning we are prioritizing:

* Keeping students with their current teacher (no need to ask us to do this -we already are if it is at all possible)

* Ensuring siblings or students in the same household are kept on the same AM or PM schedule

* Ensuring students with special services or programs are placed in the AM or PM time slot based on when services are being provided

Because in person cohorts cannot exceed 16 people (counting adults assigned to the room) we are limited with how many students can be placed on either the AM or PM roster.

This means, we cannot accommodate special requests for AM or PM placement. Only the above listed criteria will be taken into account for changing a student's cohort.

We thank you for all of your support from home. We will continue to communicate new important information as we move closer to March 15th!

Take care,

Lani Russi

Last Principal's Challenge Feb. 8-19, 2021 (TWO WEEK CHALLENGE)

Thank you to everyone who participated in our "Show Love" Principal's Challenge. CLICK HERE to see some of the pictures that were sent in.

NOTE: Principal Challenge photos will be used in our yearbook this year so make sure you send in your pics!! :)

The fourth Friday in February is National Skip the Straw Day! This national holiday was created in response to growing concern over pollution specifically caused by our overuse of plastics. Did you know that it takes over 200 years for a plastic straw to decompose back into the earth? Which means that until then, every plastic straw we use becomes trash which builds up increasing pollution, and is a potential risk to animals that can choke on them. For our principal's challenge, you are encouraged to help our pollution problem by skipping the straw this week and reducing the amount of waste you produce by either using a reusable straw or cup and even spending some time picking up trash you see in or around your neighborhood (with the permission of your parents). Be sure to send in a pic of you drinking from a cup without a straw, picking up trash, or using a reusable cup or straw and send in by no later than next Thursday to be included in our next Motivational Monday video.
