ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Battle of the Books (3rd-5th)

Elementary Battle of the Books 22-23 is available for students in grades 3-5. This is an optional jeopardy styled club which encourages reading. Team members will read from 6 books chosen by staff and compete with other teams to correctly answer questions based on those books. These books are available at most libraries or through Amazon. This club will meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month. Students will “compete” again each other in February/March. This club is optional. *New* STEM Club (K-5th)

Are you excited about creating things and seeing if your designs really work? The elementary 22-23 STEM Club is available for students grades K-5. This is a hands-on program in which students will be designing, developing, and creating different projects using science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This club will involve some basic purchases based on your child’s inventions. Team members will be given time to present their working inventions. This club may use children’s literature, videos, and other multi-media tools throughout the design process. This is an optional club. We will meet once a month to allow time for the engineering process to be developed. This club meets on the last Tuesday of each month.

Battle of the Books (6th-8th)

Battle of the Books will be offered as a club to 6-8 grade students at NCVA for the 2022-2023 school year. Learning Coaches are responsible for obtaining books unless they have a financial hardship (which we will review on a case-by-case basis). You can review the Battle of the Books Reading List – there are six books and a description of each book as well as the Amazon price is listed for transparency. MS BOB will meet once a month during Semester 1 and twice a month during Semester 2. All students and coaches will meet in one Newrow room, then divide up into teams using Break Out Rooms. For the 2022-2023 SY, NCVA teams will compete against one another virtually at the end of the school year. (March or April depending on schedules, etc) As our club grows, we hope to compete with other schools in the future.


**Final registration for MS Battle of the Books will end on Monday, October 10th for the 22-23 School Year. Please complete this form to register by that date. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, October 12th, at 3:00 pm.**

Culinary Club (6th-8th)

Welcome! This clubs helps open up doors to recipes, simple cooking, and allowing students the opportunity to learn different cooking methods, safety, and sanitation in the kitchen. In addition to our regular sessions, join us monthly for Middle School Cooking Demos!

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) 6th-8th

Grow in your faith and sport through monthly huddles where you will have opportunities to both hear and share the gospel. This club is not exclusive to athletes. All are welcome. We will equip you with resources that speak directly to your life as a competitor — to help you build your athletic skills AND to also strengthen your faith. This club will be student led, but Learning Coaches are welcome to attend and participate. Students will have the opportunity to read scripture from the Bible, pray, and share testimonies.

In this club, we will work on spreading kindness through our school and communities. SAVE Promise, is a club intitated by Sandy Hook, with the aim is to empower student leaders to take an active role in increasing school safety and preventing different forms of violence in schools and communities. This club will mesh the two related topics. If you like the idea of spreading kindness and peace, this club is for you!

Maker Space (SEL)

Makerspace is a place for students to learn and have fun through creative outlets. Each club meeting we will have a theme, based on positive emotional expression, for a launching place for your creativity. You can work individually or in small groups to do art, build, code, color, do crafts, use music, robotics, and more! You will have the option to share your creativity with the other club members.

National Junior Honor Society

NJHS is a national organization that promotes scholarship, service, citizenship, leadership, and character. Membership is by invitation only. Invitations to apply are sent out in January or February to students who have maintained an overall 3.5 GPA and have been with the school for an entire semester. The application asks for evidence of service, character, citizenship, and leadership. Members of NJHS are expected to maintain a 3.5 GPA and to fulfill community service hours.

Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) 9th-12th

FCCLA is a National club organization for any student that has completed or in enrolled in 1 Family Consumer Science class. Apparel/Fashion, Culinary, Interior, Early Childhood Education.

FCCLA requires a fee for each student. $15 for the whole year which includes participation in competitions, special events, and opportunities for scholarships.

Are you considering pursuing a career in health care after graduation? Consider joining HOSA: Future Health Professionals. This national organziation is designed to educate students about opportunities in the health industry, as well as foster leadership skills. HOSA requires a membership fee of $20.00 for the year. HS E-Sports Team (9th-12th)

The NCVA eSports competes at multiple levels in a number of titles in 2 different leagues (Stride eSports and HSEL). Not only do we compete in tournaments but there is an opportunity for students to earn scholarships, exposure to college recruitment, and a growing eSports community. Outside of competing, the NCVA eSports team has events for its members and a community within itself. If you are someone who enjoys playing video games and/or wants to compete against students from across the country please reach out and sign up for the info session!

The NCVA High School Leadership Club is an opportunity for High School students to create community through serving their classmates. This club offers a chance to expand your musical horizons and share your musical tastes and insights.
