Revolutionary War

Paul Revere, The Boston Massacre, and Militia/Minutemen

Paul Revere

Paul Revere was baptized on January 1st of 1735 nobody is quite sure when he was actually born. His mother and father were Paul Revere also known as Apollos Rivoire and his mother is Deborah Hitchbourne. Paul Revere's dad was also a gold and silversmith and that is how Paul Revere got his job as a gold and silversmith. Paul Revere married Sarah Orne and had 8 children but she passed away and he got remarried to Rachel Walker and had eight more children.

Paul Revere became a silver/goldsmith and became pretty popular from just that. It was the midnight ride and a poem that made his story forever known. Even though Paul Revere is more popular, Israel bissell was said to of rode his horse for 345 miles in just 4 days and 6 hours on April 1775 and shouted "to arms, to arms, the war has begun". Even though Israel Bissell rode many more miles than Paul Revere, he still never became more famous.

Paul revere was still pretty important during the revolutionary war. He watched for the British and warned Samuel Adams and John Hancock that the British were coming to arrest them. He was also in the sons of liberty and the north end caucus

Boston Massacre

the Boston massacre started when five men were shot and killed while others were injured. It started with men and boys taunting a guard at the city's custom house. Soon more guards came and the shots were fired. Four died immediately and the fifth died four days later. the shots were known as the first fatalities of the revolutionary war. The sons of liberty were the first to advertise the boston massacre as the battle for liberty. The Boston Massacre made people really angry and start to rebel more.

Militia/Minutemen

Militia/minuteman Had to highly mobile and easy to assemble. They were usually 25 and younger and chosen for their enthusiasm, reliability, and physical strength and they were among the first to fight in the revolutionary war. They fought the british for their independance and were also a big part of it.

Militia and minutemen were decided to be two different things. Militia were men in arms formed to protect their towns from foreign invasion and ravages of war. Minutemen were highly mobile and able to assemble quickly and were a small hand-picked elite force which were required to be highly mobile and able to assemble quickly.“…but when our men were gone, they sent eleven more at one minute’s warning, with 3 days provision…” was a journal entry from Samuel Thompson, a Massachusetts militia officer.
