Waller ISD Gifted & Talented Services
GT students receive program services designed to nurture skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication. Teachers seek to meet the social, emotional, and intellectual needs of gifted learners through a variety of academic experiences. The main areas of focus are Research Skills, Social/Emotional Skills, and Creativity/Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS).
GT Services by Grade Level:
- Kindergarten: Students will begin services no later than March 1 and are provided differentiated instruction in their class.
- 1st-5th Grade: Students meet a minimum of 45 minutes each week with a designated GT teacher.
- 6th-8th Grade: Students meet with their GT teacher daily during the advisory class period.
- 9th-12th Grade: Students are serviced through Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), and Dual Credit classes.

GT PROGRESS REPORTS
GT PROGRESS REPORT
- 1st-8th grade gifted and talented students will receive a GT Progress Report at the end of each semester. The progress report is a time of reflection, based on a variety of skills applied during GT class time. The progress report allows the teacher to evaluate the student and also gives the student an opportunity to evaluate themselves using a 1-3 rating scale: 3=Exceeds Expectations, 2=Meets Expectations, and 1=Below Expectations. Be on the lookout for these to be sent home or emailed to the parent/guardian at the end of the semester.
