May 2022

A message from Mrs. Gober

Dear Ocean View families and staff,

It is hard to believe that we are entering May and starting to see the wonderful and rejuvenating signs of summer! As we move into the final three weeks of school, let’s look forward to finishing the year strong together. We will continue to maximize our learning focus, while also enjoying special events and activities with our Ocean View students and families!

A huge shout out of thanks and appreciation to our Ocean View PTA, students, families, and staff for making our 2022 Ocean View Fun Run such a success! This truly was a community building celebration of the successful fundraising efforts and generosity of our families and community members. It was great to see our students participating in the fun run with families and staff cheering them on and having a great time together. Thank you, Ocean View PTA and community, for supporting this special event and our awesome Ocean View Learning Community!

It is a pleasure to support and serve your Ocean View Learning Community until Mrs. Durr returns. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via phone, e-mail or in person. I am here to serve and support you and our Ocean View community and ensure these last 3 weeks are safe, positive, fun, and productive.

Let’s finish the year strong together!

Covid testing at Ocean View

Nurse Lanaee is able to offer Covid testing at Ocean View. If you would like to register your student, please use the QR code or use this link. Please give her a call in advance to speak to her about getting tested.

From the Library

SEALS club hosted a food drive the week of April 1-8th and students collected a total of 1751 canned and boxed foods for the food bank of Alaska! Ms. Perrault's class collected the most with 394 items. They have earned an extra session of their favorite special.

The last day for library book check out will be Friday, April 29th. Students can finish books they already have out, but the last day for new checkouts will be on the 29th of April. If students are missing a book, they will need to replace the title, pay the fine set on the notice, or have a parent contact Mrs. DeWall for options if repayment or replacement is not possible due to a financial hardship. Our goal is to have all student accounts clear before their next school year.

If lost or missing items are not accounted for, they stay on the student account until addressed. If you believe your student has received an overdue notice by mistake, please contact Mrs. DeWall at

dewall_amy@asdk12.org or 907-742-5882.
