Our Learning Never Stops...

North Point Educational Service Center (NPESC) is excited to share this update of professional learning opportunities designed for educators of all levels for Spring 2021.

Self Care for Educators and Students

Want to escape the stress and anxiety of the world and learn simple, effective methods of self-care to implement daily? With the onset of COVID-19, it is important to focus on self-care and stress reduction for both the educator and the students they work with. Connect for one or all of these workshops to learn to be healthier role models and learn strategies you can use with your students.

HQSD & Connections to Assessment Literacy

This session will make connections between High-Quality Student Data (HQSD) as it is used OTES 2.0 and the essential components of assessment design. Participants will explore the following topics:

  • How High-Quality Data supports OTES 2.0

  • The importance of beginning assessment design with a clear purpose

  • The importance of starting with clear and specific learning targets to be assessed

  • The ways to increase validity and reliability of instruments

  • How to review individual items for bias

  • Webb’s Depth of Knowledge and how it relates to item design and selection

  • How to examine and design individual items for alignment to content, skills and cognitive rigor

Assessment is the process of gathering evidence of student learning to inform education-related decisions. The impact of decisions relies on the quality of the evidence gathered, which in turn, depends on the quality of the assessment and associated practices used to gather it. Educators who are assessment literate understand how to gather dependable evidence and how to use it productively to support or verify student growth and/or achievement.

This session will be a virtual format via Zoom and presented by ODE Consultant, Apryl Ealy as a "Train the Trainer" opportunity. All presentation materials will be shared and can be used for building and district training.

Suggested Audience: District and/or Building Leaders, HQSD District Teams, or anyone who wants to learn more about the OTES 2.0 HQSD component and connections to Assessment Literacy.

Presenter: Apryl Ealy, ODE Consultant
