Dear Tubman Community,

Wow! What a week. I hope everyone is safe and doing well. As we are experiencing this natural disaster, I am sending prayers to all who have been affected. Please do not hesitate to contact me if your experiencing hardships. I will assist in any way possible.


Between the pandemic and now the wildfires, I momentarily forgot about the anniversary of 9/11. I am sending prayers to those who lost their lives on that day. It was 19 years ago, but it still feels as though it happened recently.


Parents, on Monday, Septemeber 14th, we will begin our instructional schedule. This will be our schedule up until November 5th, and at that time, we will be guided on what direction our learning format will be for the rest of the semester.


Your scholar should have received their login access code and virtual platform information from their teachers. Monday and Tuesday mornings will be synchronous learning in which it will be live instruction with their teachers. In the afternoons, it will be Applied Learning in which the scholars are practicing what they have learned. On Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, scholars will meet with their teacher in small groups and engage in asynchronous learning. Small groups will be determined by the teacher's discretion based on the data and performance of the scholars in the class. The time will be used to provide extra help or enrichment for your scholar.


ATTENDANCE

Attendance will be taken for each synchronous period. Scholars will be held responsible for attendance. If they are missing consecutive days, you will be notified so that we can assist with making your scholar successful. Below, there will be an attachment to the district's attendance protocol and how attendance will be recorded for asynchronous days/times.


GRADING

Scholars will be graded for each assignment that their teacher has assigned for a grade. During Back to School Night, you will hear about the grading practices from your scholar's teachers.


MATERIALS DISTRIBUTION

You will receive a rescheduled date(s) for material distribution when the air quality has improved.


MEAL DISTRIBUTION

Today, meal distribution was canceled due to weather conditions and air quality. This might have placed a hardship for some. If you would like to receive meals, please email me at lmair@pps.net.


PASSWORDS

Some scholars experienced password issues to log in to their PPS account. If your scholar requires a password reset, please email Ms. Holmes at jholmes1@pps.net, or you can call the school at 503-916-5630.
