A Message from Ms. Lilly
RNE Newsletter March 16th, 2017
The Principal's Office
Dear RNE Family,
Thank you so much for your generous support of our Pennies for Patients campaign. The sound of coins as they are added to the buckets each morning makes me proud. Our students are so excited to crush cancer! Our PTA’s SEM committee has once again helped bring the curriculum to life for our students. Today and tomorrow, our 5th graders traveled to Kennesaw State University to see their Holocaust Exhibition. I have heard many positive responses to this experience! Thank you PTA for your continued support of our students.
This Saturday, Mr. Weigand will take our science team to compete in the Science Olympiad at Centennial High School. We know they will make us proud.
Spring is right around the corner. I am looking forward to the warmup next week!
Enjoy the weekend!
Maureen

Roswell North Car Pool Policies
Courteous behavior is the rule in carpool!
Do not pass other cars unless specifically directed to do so by an officer or staff member.
Please do not use cell phones while in carpool areas.
All students must have a number. Please get a carpool number at registration or by request to the front office.
Carpool opens at 7:10 a.m. and closes at 7:40 am. If you drop off students after 7:40 you must sign them in at the front office.
Students may ONLY be released from the vehicle at the designated place by staff members in the carpool area.
Students should never be dropped off by a sidewalk in front of the school. This is a safety concern and could result in a citation to the driver by the Roswell Police.
Lost and Found
Next time you are in our building, please be sure to check out our Lost and Found located on the stage in the cafeteria. There are several unclaimed jackets - one might just belong to your student! We will be donating all unclaimed items to North Fulton Community Charities at the end of this month. - Thank you.
PLACEMENT CONSIDERATION FOR 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR
The Roswell North Elementary Administration is committed to placing each child in his/her best learning environment. An enormous amount of time and effort is devoted to place each child appropriately.
If you feel that your child has unique learning needs or if there are other considerations you would like to bring to our attention such as separate best friends, or family/personal challenges, you may choose to complete the 2017-2018 Placement Consideration Form that is available in the front office. As you list the characteristics of a teacher you feel will best meet your child’s needs, please do not list the obvious characteristics such as “organized, nurturing, structured, positive, motivating, challenging, creative,” etc. We believe all our teachers possess the previously listed characteristics. The letters will be shared with your child’s teacher in the fall in order to ensure your child’s needs are thoroughly communicated.
While we do welcome your input regarding your child’s individual learning needs, we cannot accept emails, phone calls, nor can we hold personal conferences regarding student placement. Due to changes in personnel and class sizes, some teachers will change grade levels and staff teaching assignments will not be finalized until summer. Forms that name specific teachers will not be considered.
Please keep in mind that placement consideration forms should be the exception rather than the rule, and the final decision on class placement resides with the school.
If you choose to complete the RNE Placement Consideration Form it is due on or before 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 30. Forms will not be accepted after this deadline. RNE Placement Consideration Forms should be returned to the front office in a sealed envelope to the attention of Laureen Wagner, Curriculum Support.
Thank you for your support and cooperation as we work together for the benefit of all students at Roswell North.
Artist Day is coming to RNE Thursday March 30th. We need your help! Please use the link to go to RNE homepage/volunteers/artist day and sign up! Please email jwhitworth05@gmail.com if you have any questions.
RNE WEBSITE UPDATES!
In an effort to make the RNE website more user friendly quick click icons have been added to the home page. These icons will hopefully eliminate the questions of which menu is which link under? In an effort to stream line volunteer links we are trying to utilize the volunteer icon - clicking here will take you directly to sign ups for cafe, Artist Day, media center and more.
