Mrs. Steele applied for this iPad to help Aniket with academic and communication needs at English Landing and at home. Aniket received the iPad, a new carrying case and $300 to purchase the Chat Editor app which will help him when writing. Aniket will keep the iPad and take it to Lakeview Middle School next year.

Be an ENGLISH LANDING Mystery Guest!

Take Your Parent or Family Guest to Lunch Week!
Earlier this month you received a flyer in backpack mail about this NEW school lunch program.
Our eagles love it when a parent (or family member) is able to join them for a school lunch at English Landing Elementary School. We are excited to kick-off a new program, Take Your Parent or Family Guest to Lunch Week with other elementary schools in Park Hill where we designate a week for each grade level to WELCOME parents or family members to join us for school lunch.
The process is simple. Just select any day during the week identified for your child’s grade level. Then call the English Landing Office (359-4370) by 9:00am on the day you to plan to visit to let us know you will be joining us for lunch. You are always welcome to eat lunch with your child at English Landing. Take Your Parent or Family Guest to Lunch Week is another way to encourage one special week for lunch guests for each grade level throughout the 2019-2020 school year.
Take Your Parent or Family Guest to Lunch Week Dates:
· Kindergarten: December 9 to December 13 (Lunch begins at 11:26am)
· First Grade: January 13 to January 17 (Lunch begins at 11:12am)
· Second Grade: February 24 to February 28 (Lunch begins at 11:00am)
· Third Grade: March 23 to March 27 (Lunch begins at 11:44am)
· Fourth Grade: April 20 to April 24 (Lunch begins at 12:00pm)
· Fifth Grade: May 18 to May 22 (Lunch begins at 12:14pm)
We hope to see YOU during Take Your Parent or Family Guest to Lunch Week!
{2019-2020 PH Parent/Student Handbook pg. 19- Soda and fast food lunches are discouraged.}

PTA English Landing Membership Portal
We were excited to go live with the new English Landing PTA Website or Membership Portal! Within this new toolkit, there is a directory function, eliminating the need for a separate PDF. Last week, you should have received an email from English Landing Elementary PTA with the link to create a membership toolkit account.
If you did not receive an email, please reach out to Lauren Jeppson (lpjeppson@gmail.com) or Brooke Crosby (brooke.crosby@hotmail.com). We hope everyone is enjoying the functionality of this new website!
Park Hill School District STAR Awards!
Our employees are the reason we are so successful here in the Park Hill School District, and we would like to recognize them for all they do for our students.
That is why we present the Park Hill Star award once a month to a pre-K or elementary teacher, a secondary teacher and a support employee. Anyone can nominate an employee for this award by accessing the link below!
Shatto Milk Company
Guess What?
Guess What? English Landing students have collected over 1,000 Shatto Milk bottle caps. When we collect 1,500 Shatto Milk bottle caps then our students will be able to name a calf on the Shatto dairy farm. For every Shatto Milk bottle cap collected, our English Landing PTA earns $$. The Shatto Milk collection box is located by the entrance to the cafeteria next to the lost and found area. Thanks!
Expanding our Art Room Walls Through Artsonia
English Landing Families,
I am excited to be reinstating Artsonia for our students this year. Artsonia is an art portfolio website that students can utilize to share their artwork with friends and families as well as keep a record of their artwork throughout their school careers. It is an excellent resource for me as it helps me track student progress throughout the year and into future years.
Over the past week I have been handing out sign in information so students can access their accounts at home. Please let me know if you have questions or need help acccessing Artsonia at home.

Reminder: CALL BOX System at Front Entrance
Parents/guardians are welcome to request a visit to the school. When planning to visit, please contact the office at least one day in advance so the building principal can set a schedule. The principal has the discretion to set reasonable parameters on school visits (length of stay, number of visitors, etc.). Visitors should limit their visit to the area(s) of the building they have indicated upon check-in with the office. Unauthorized persons found on school property may be subject to arrest or other legal action.
Will all Exterior Doors be LOCKED During the School Day? Visitors must enter the building using the front doors and report to the office. If a visitor needs to enter the building farther than the school office or check out a student, the visitor must register by presenting a valid, state-issued ID to the school’s office staff. Any visit after the first registration will only require a visitor to check in at a kiosk using a valid, state-issued ID.
Do I need to bring my state-issued ID every time when visiting English Landing? Yes. Visitors entering the school beyond the office must present a valid, state-issued ID and receive a printed ID sticker that must be worn and visible during the entire stay. Friends of students may not be brought to school or arrive at school as visitors. Unruly or disruptive conduct by visitors that interferes with the educational environment or with extracurricular activities may result in limited access or revocation of visitor privileges to school property or functions.
What is the process for eating lunch with my child? In most cases, parents/guardians are allowed to visit school and eat lunch with their child. The school, however, reserves the right to limit lunch visits in appropriate circumstances. Parents/guardians planning to eat lunch with their child should notify the school office one day in advance. Bringing outside restaurant food is strongly discouraged. If parents or family members want to join their child for lunch they are encouraged to eat school lunch or bring a sack lunch from home. If parents or family members choose to bring restaurant food to English Landing, which is strongly discouraged in the 2019-2020 Park Hill handbook, then an alternative location will be arranged.
Celebrating Birthdays at English Landing!
Celebrating Student Birthdays: (Park Hill Parent/Student Handbook pages 39-40):
We are happy to celebrate student birthdays and half birthdays (if your child has a summer birthday) at English Landing! To protect the health and safety of our students, families may bring pre-packaged treats to school to share with classmates. In order to address any known allergy concerns, a label listing ingredients should be affixed to the package. Due to allergies and other food intolerances, please consult with your classroom teacher before the pre-packaged treats are brought to school. As a healthier alternative, Park Hill Food Service offers a variety of nutritious treats that may be purchased.
At English Landing we need your HELP! Many birthday treats arrive at the beginning of the school day which provides us time to review the class list regarding food allergies or food intolerances, however, many other birthday treats arrive during lunch and often right at the same time the treat needs to be distributed to students. PLEASE plan on arriving earlier for lunch (at least 15 minutes) to give us time to check the pre-packaged treat ingredients with the students in the classroom who have food allergies or food intolerances. Our school nurse, Mrs. Kimbrel, will help with this process so when the lunchroom staff teachers distribute the treat in the cafeteria, additional steps have been taken to ensure we are protecting the health and safety of our eagles.
Please remember: If you want your child to distribute birthday party invitations at school, they will only be distributed if there is a party invitation for everyone in the classroom. Thank you!
