Welcome Back !!!
Hello and WELCOME BACK!!! I hope that you and your family have had a relaxing summer vacation. My name is Ida Chance, Frank Long Elementary School Counselor.
First, I wanted to take a moment to share Frank Long Elementary School Counseling Program. The program provides classroom guidance for grades K-5, individual counseling, small group counseling and school-wide events which students learn prevention and awareness of Drug Awareness, Career Awareness, Bullying and much more. In addition, Frank Long School Counseling Program has a male mentoring program for 4th-5th grade young men called, True Explorers and an extra- curriculum activity for 3rd- 5th young ladies called FLE Spirit Squad. Both groups main objectives are to build leadership skill, good character and positive self-esteem.
In classroom guidance, individual and small group counseling, I use a variety of skills and technique such as games, songs, technology and stories for students to grasps social & emotional skill lessons and career & exploration lessons to become academically successful.
I believe this is going to be a fun year filled with learning, growing and new adventures. I am looking forward to getting to know you, your family and most importantly your child!!! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Tips to ease Back to School anxiety and fears.
- Make your good-byes quick: Long goodbyes rituals can prolong your child's fears about you leaving them at school. A quick hug, kiss, and have a good day are all your child needs to start the day. This can help with the your child's adjustment and build confidence.
- Be careful about saying " I Miss You." While it sounds loving, your child may feel worried about you instead focusing on his or her school day. You may want to say, " I can't wait to hear about your day after school."
- Write your child an encourage note: Packing a short note in your child's backpack or lunchbox, can give them something to look forward to.
