Attea Flyers
School Newsletter for Parents
For the week of February 8
Hello, Attea families!
This past week we started off by celebrating Builders Club's successful support of the Special Olympics through its Polar Plunge Challenge (it's not too late to get involved), and we recognized the start of African American History Month. Both initiatives are consistent with our focus on the development of the whole child (click here for more information) and the Core Values of the D34's Strategic Plan, which include:
- Growth & Aspirations: We are forward-focused on the academic and social-emotional growth of students and the professional growth of staff, and on creating the best future for our community.
- Diversity, Inclusion & Equity: We embrace and welcome the differences of each member of our community and provide equitable resources to meet the needs of all learners.
- Relationships & Respect: We build collaborative, respectful relationships through trust, open communication, and shared responsibility and accountability.

The rest of the newsletter provides informational updates and helpful reminders to parents about upcoming opportunities. As always, if you have questions or concerns, please contact us: Contact Attea Middle School.
Have a safe and happy weekend.

MAP Testing: Next Week
MAP testing will be administered in students' ELA and math classes according to the following schedule:
February 8th and 9th - Math MAP’s
February 11th and 12th - ELA MAP’s
February 16th - 19th - Make-ups/Completion through X Blocks
We strive to provide an environment where all students can perform their best on this important tool to help analyze academic progress. In order to promote a sense of familiarity and comfort, to the greatest extent possible students take the math and reading test in their math and language arts classrooms with their own teachers. We also talk to students about doing their best but not stressing over performance. Parents, please be part of the team by helping students:
- Get a good night's sleep
- Eat a good breakfast
- Have a fully charged iPad
5Essentials Survey: Parents
By now parents may be aware of the Illinois 5Essential Survey, which is required by the state and is part of each public school's state report card. Although it is required by state, we truly hope that all parents take the survey because it helps us learn about how we are doing as a school. Parents' perspective and feedback is crucial in helping make Attea the best school it can be.
Here is a link for parents to take the survey: 5Essentials Parent Survey. It requires only 10 minutes or so to complete. How about taking it right now?
Hybrid student in-person attendance: We need to know
Additionally, if your child is signed up for Hybrid but your current plans are to keep her or him home indefinitely, please let us know that as well.
