Frenchwood's Friday Focus
February 3, 2017
Campus to the Capitol
This week I had the privilege to meet with legislators and give them the true story of public school education and share the many success stories related to Miller Intermediate School. During my visit, along with 12 Alief administrators, I was really encouraged by the receptiveness of the legislators. They really want to hear our stories and align legislation to help meet our needs. Did you know that 30 phone calls from constituents (you and me) can sway a legislators thinking on a bill that will effect our practice for years? It is so important for us to regularly contact our legislator, because the opposing side sure is. We have to drown out their story with the TRUTH.
Follow this link to review current legislation that has been introduced on the Senate floor:

Commit to making at least one call to your Senator next week to share your view as an educator.
The TRUTH about our Crossing Guard
Good morning, Ms. Frenchwood!
Several mornings a week I take a the route pass your school. For years now I have been seeing the crossing guard on the intersection in front of the school. I just had to let you know that she is an absolute JOY! I don't have any school age kids, in fact my daughter is 26. But she just makes me smile. Rain or shine, hot or cold she is constantly waving and smiling to all the cars that pass. It's the simple things in life that brings us joy. Yet her simple display of friendliness is no small thing! Please tell her that she is truly appreciated!
Warmest regards,
Kimberly
