A Note from Mrs. Fisher, our School Nurse
With “sick season” really ramping up, I have been noticing students bringing cough drops, mints, or candy to school. While I certainly appreciate the effort to keep everyone in school, we cannot allow students to have those cough drops, mints, or candies in their possession per school policy. We do confiscate those and have them in the clinic, but in order to administer any medication, including cough drops, we must have a physician’s signature permitting us to administer as well as a parent signature. This also applies to any short-term ear or eye drops. These medications must be dropped off and picked up by a parent in the clinic. You can find the medical authorization form on the VCS website within the health link, or you may stop by the clinic and pick one up. Your child’s health is important to us, so if you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call.
