News from Eli Terry
A Peek Inside the Week - Sept. 23rd, 2022
A Note From Your Principals
To illustrate this idea staff engaged in a collective resume activity -- a team building exercise designed to highlight the collective influence of groups of educators. In small groups, staff created a "resume" that highlighted their small groups' collective:
- Number of schools taught in
- Grades/content areas taught
- Degrees held and...
- Subject areas of degrees
While we always knew Eli Terry had an INCREDIBLE staff, would you believe collectively we:
*Have taught for 852 years!?!?!
*Have taught in 207 different schools!?!?!?!
*Have taught 216 different grade levels!?!?!?
*Hold 110 degrees!?!?!? and...
*Hold degrees in: elementary education, special education, social and rehabilitation services, communications, English literature, advertising, reading, psychology, politics of education, fine arts, music, food service management, sociology, math/science/technology, business administration, social work, ministry, design and resource management, information science, curriculum and instruction, physical education and health, remedial reading, speech, assistive technology, child studies, TESOL, history, world language, criminal justice, and educational leadership!?!?!?
To say that our staff is experienced, talented, and intelligent is an understatement. When you see these numbers, there is absolutely no doubt that we can not only hold students to, "High standards. Every student. Every day", but ensure that all students reach these standards and achieve at high levels.
We truly are better together!
- Maybe an ET neighbor who watched your child at the bus stop so you could get to work early?
- Maybe an ET student who was a buddy to your child on the bus or during recess?
- Or maybe an ET staff member who you feel went above and beyond?
We encourage you to share your gratitude by completing the quick Google Form linked below!
Expressing gratitude brings joy to not only those being acknowledged but those doing the acknowledging!

This team is amazing and have already memorized their opening and closing scripts. These students will be mentors and ambassadors for their grade. They will assist students who have a conflict with another by facilitating a conversation aimed at resolving their issue. Students voluntarily sign up for a mediation if they are having a conflict with a peer. Students in Grades 4 through 5 are eligible to use mediation now, and Grade 3 will be eligible in January. Mediators help people talk and listen to each other to come up with a resolution that both students agree to.
Peer mediators are an important part of our problem solving toolbox of strategies here at ET and we're so lucky to have these students on the team this year!
