Using YouTube and Keeping Kids Safe
If you are planning on using YouTube at all this year with kiddos, you need to read this.
1- Logging In
For students to view YouTube videos, they must be logged in to their FISD YouTube account (their google login. The tricky part is that some kids have TWO accounts that appear to be associated with their FISD Google login. So it can appear as though they are using the correct account when, in fact, they are not. If you have kids who cannot see the YouTube videos have them visit YouTube.com/channel_switcher and see if there is another account that could possibly be the correct one.
2- Approving videos
As the teacher, when you login to YouTube, you will be able to view all videos. So if you are just showing something to your your students from your desktops, you should be fine (not if you have a sub though- more later). However, if you want students to be able to view the video on their own, then you need to be sure it is approved for FISD.
Underneath every video in YouTube you should see a blue bar that says "Video not approved for Frisco ISD" or "Watchable by Frisco ISD". If it says it is not approved, you can approve it by clicking the Approve button on the blue bar! Please take note that this will approve the video for the entire district, from early childhood through 12th grade. We do record who has approved which videos for the district in case there is ever a question about content.
You do have the ability to approve an entire channel at once! if you have students creating videos, you can have them add to your channel. Here are some instructions on how that can work without giving students your login information.
3- Substitutes
Subs have a login that they are given in their sub folder that is specifically for YouTube. However, this is a student level account. That means they don't have approval power. They are not going to be able to go in and approve videos if you forget. Alos, even if they are just showing a video to the class on the projector, you need to approve it for them ahead of time.

Grade Load Dates & Eligibility Calendar
Below are the Grade Load Deadlines for CTE. At CTE grades are due at 3:30 on Mondays (with the exception of January 16)
HAC Codes and Grade Extensions
Below you will find the HAC codes and the grade extensions and what they mean. The grade extensions do not affect a student's class average. The letter codes will pop up if you double click in an empty cell in your grade book.
Using a Home Computer or Device on the School Network
Due to changes to our network, in order for personal devices to access certain sites while on the Frisco ISD network, it is necessary to install a certificate. For the purposes of this document, "personal device" refers to any device that is not managed by Frisco ISD Technology. Examples of these devices include a Windows laptop or MacBook brought from home.
The certificate must be installed if all of the following conditions are met:
- You are using a personal device connected to the Frisco ISD network
- You are logged into the Chrome browser with a Frisco ISD-managed Google account (such as [YourUsername]@friscoisd.org or [YourUsername]@k12.friscoisd.org)
If you do not wish to install the certificate, you have other options available to you. These include the following:
- Logout of Chrome, or log into Chrome with a non-Frisco ISD Google account
- Use another browser, such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, Edge, or Safari
