Parents will receive an in-depth look at the Federal and Texas Transition process used in their child’s IEP to help them be successful after graduating from high school. This training will cover the importance of self-determination and involving your child in the transition process.

For the Love of Writing Make and Take Session
This training will focus on strategies and activities that foster a love for writing while further developing your child’s writing skills. Parents will gain an understanding of the writing processes through a make and take session with hands-on activities. Parents will walk away with a resource of strategies ready to implement with their child. This session is appropriate for all ages.

Success with Children with ADD/ADHD
In this training you will learn the symptoms of ADD/ADHD, how it is diagnosed, the most common forms of treatment, and most importantly--parenting tips and strategies.

Unorganized, Unfocused, and Unprepared: The Impact of Executive Functioning Skills in the Classroom
Does your son or daughter have trouble organizing work, completing tasks, managing materials, managing time, paying attention or have social difficulties? These are all cognitive skills that are referred to as Executive Functioning Skills. Executive Functioning Skills greatly impact children’s achievement and are often an associated feature of developmental or learning disabilities, or caused by a mismatch between a child’s neuro-developmental stage and the demands of their environment. This training will focus on ways in which parents and teachers can use appropriate strategies to support children’s developing executive skills, while helping improve academic performance.
ESC-20 Transition Community Fair
Due to COVID-19 this session now a three hour ZOOM session.
Session will still include Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG), Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), The South Texas Down Syndrome Association and The Arc of San Antonio, to discussion services, being provided to the community.

Building Blocks--Supporting Children’s Strong Emotions in the Preschool Years
This workshop will explore the importance of acknowledging young children’s feelings and strategies for supporting children in learning to effectively express their emotions. A mini make & take to create an emotions visual choice board and breathing techniques will be provided.

Neurology 101: Why do I feel this way?
It is going to be interesting to see what kind of world we have when the current situation we are living is all over. For mental health, we need more real social interaction not less; unfortunately we have ended up with social distancing, which is exacerbating the anxiety that many kids already have. This presentation will cover a lot about the brain and how it works as best we know. It will encompass and explain how COVID 19 is impacting people. Join our guest speaker, author, and counselor, Jim Denning as he delivers information on this very important topic.
