with Charlotte Lockhart, The Librarian
A hearty welcome to the vibrant and innovative world of technology here at Boynton Beach Community High School! I am elated to move up to high school and serve as your certified media specialist, media department chair and journalism teacher. We are all a part of a dynamic season in technology. From AI to Firefly, to Canva Magic and Adobe Express, this year is your year to develop and elevate your professional technological prowess.
Your presence at this school is a testimony to your passion for teaching, and I am confident that your skills, enthusiasm, and fresh perspectives on media and technology will contribute immensely to our school's digital landscape. As a vital student influencer in our institution, your role in shaping the way we integrate and leverage technology cannot be understated.
In the days and months ahead, I hope you will accept the challenge and find a way to immerse yourself and your students in exciting projects and collaborative tasks. I believe in crushing classroom walls and building upon our school-based technology by going beyond the building, virtually, and exploring cutting-edge solutions that are rigorous and enjoyable for you and your students.
Once again, thank you to all who have welcomed me to the Tiger family and I can't wait to see the incredible contributions you'll make to our school's tech-driven future!

P1619GISO
The School District of Palm Beach County has not "pulled any books". Teachers can use only certain materials for instruction. There are three "no's" as it relates to vetting instructional materials: P1619GISO
1. No information on Project 1619
2. No reference to gender identity.
3. No reference to sexual orientation.
If you are using materials for instruction that are not provided by the district, you must complete this form at the school level. The media specialist will approve it or if it is questionable, form 2671 will be completed by the specialist and it will go to the district for review and they will provide the final answer.
"Instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity: May not occur in prekindergarten through grade 8, except if included in required health education curriculum. If provided in grades 9-12, such instruction must be age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate in accordance with state standards. (House Bill 1069 Effective 7/1/2023)
Any material that is subject to an objection on the basis of pornography or sexual conduct must be removed within 5 school days of receipt of objection and remain unavailable until the objection is resolved.
- District-provided resources that include multiple-grade-level content (such as BrainPop), are approved provided that the selected materials are in alignment with the identified grade/course standards. As referenced in CTA’s CBA, Article II, Section K, the employee is responsible for exercising sound judgment in selecting for discussion those issues, which are relevant to the maturity and understanding of the students involved.
- Non-District-provided instructional materials must be approved by a certified library media specialist.
- Classroom teachers wanting to use non-District-provided materials with students must check the Vetted Materials list, sorted by elementary or secondary. The materials listed have been reviewed and approved by a certified library media specialist and are approved provided that the selected materials are in alignment with the identified grade/course standards.
- Classroom teachers wanting to use non-District-provided materials that are not included in the Vetted Materials list must submit the materials to your school library media specialist for review.
- Maintain and grow the school library media center.
- Lead and inspire students during visits to the school library media center.
- Vet non-District-provided materials submitted by your teachers that are not already included on the Vetted Materials list. Submit reviewed/approved non-District-provided materials to the District Library Media Services team. Be mindful that this District team provides the final layer of support by completing your review and posting your submitted material to the Vetted Materials list.
Things to Remember
- It is the responsibility of the teacher to ensure that materials made available to students are in alignment with grade/level course standards
- Some materials, based on topic, may need a longer review period
- If it has been vetted, it does not need to be reviewed again. Check with the media specialist or your department head
