THE RISE OF THE HUMANS By: Karina Diaz ( Matthews)
Early Hominini
Scientists have discovered how humans began. It all began with Australopithecus. Scientists named her "Lucy" she existed 4.2 million -1.9 million years ago. Also Lucy had human-ape like traits or features. The next hominid would be the homo habilis he was the tool maker. Homo habilis was the first hominid to use tools and make them. He existed 2 million- 1.5 million years ago. Homo erectus was the one that discovered fire and was the first to eat and make cooked food. They existed 1.75 million- 200,00 million years ago. The last one of the whole evolution of homoinin was the homo sapian which is us. The homo sapian is has existed since 200,000 years ago. The the homo sapian is the modern human and has a high rounded skull. Also the homo sapian is more advanced for which we have technology. But all hominini are bipedal because they all stood up with two feet. Also all hominini began in the savannas of Africa and then moved out for survival, food, the heat, and the water because the water in Africa began to disappear so they probably went to look for more.
Archaeologists as Detectives
Archaeologist back in the old days weren't as careful as the archaeologists today. The early archaeologists were explorers and if they found an artifact they would look for it and just care for what is was worth. But the archaeologists today are extremely careful of the types of artifacts that they find. Also most artifacts were discovered by accident. For example, the Lascaux, France cave paintings. They were discovered by some teenagers looking for their dog!
Tools of the Craft
A good a dig site would be near a river, closeness to water, terrain, or soil. It is a good place for a dig site because the early humans lived near water or rivers in order to survive. A trowel is a tool used by archaeologists in order to not break small artifacts in the ground still buried . A trowel is a small shaped shovel that archaeologists use as a tool. There are 6 types of artifacts. They are fossils ,sculptures ,art, pottery, tools and written records. Written records are valuable because it proves to an archaeologist that that type of human lived during that period of time. also that is can show that archaeologists how that person survived and lived.
