NOTES & REMINDERS
Jackson Elementary ESSA Designation
Dear Jackson School Community,
The state has released new information on school performance as required by a federal education law called the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). You have received background information on ESSA in recent days.
Based on this new system of school accountability and support under ESSA, some schools in Iowa have been identified for additional support and improvement (Comprehensive or Targeted).
Jackson Elementary has not been identified for either Comprehensive Support and Improvement (which is based on overall performance) or Targeted Support and Improvement. However, our school still receives scores on these accountability measures, and these are updated annually. You can locate our scores and results on the Iowa School Performance Profiles site: www.iaschoolperformance.gov.
We have many things to celebrate in our school:
· Office referrals are at a 5 year low
· Student surveys report high levels of positive student to student and student to adult relationships
· Based on our performance, Jackson Elementary is the highest ranked school in the entire Cedar Rapids Community School District and one of the highest in the Cedar Rapids metro area- including Linn-Mar and College Community!!!
We also continue to work toward improvement in the following areas: readiness for the next grade level, discovering areas of passion and interest, and improving our overall reading and math scores.
We view this new system for accountability and support as an opportunity to review our strengths and areas for improvement and to build on the great things we have going on.
Thank you for your continued support of our school, our staff, and our students. We have an awesome school and we love working with your child!

It’s a great day to be a Jackson Jet!

SCRIP
Scrip is looking for someone to help with the program next school year. Please contact Lori Weber at 319-551-5584 if interested or have any questions.
If you need a gift card fast, stop in the office and ask to look in the Cash & Carry Bag. Lots of new cards and plenty of options to choose from.
SCRIP is a program where you buy gift cards at face value and a percentage goes back to the school. Fast, convenient and a great way to support Jackson!
