Jaguars Lead the Way

Message from the Principal
The weather is getting nicer, it really feels like spring now.
As much as some of you may want to go out and do your regular activities, try and stay home as much as possible. The more people stay home, the sooner we can get the quarantine lifted.
As you all know, our campus will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. At this time we do not know when campuses will reopen but we will do our best to communicate with you. If your student needs any technological support, please contact our office.
In this edition of the Jaguars Newsletter, we continue featuring our Seniors and their plans after high school. Our English teachers are in the spotlight this week and will share what they are doing during the quarantine. Counseling, College & Career Pathways, and Student Life have some important information to share with you. And, it's Spirit Week! Please take a look at the information and get your gear ready: pajamas, sports jerseys, Jag swag, and your wackiest outfit. Let's have a great week in Google Classroom and have some fun together.
Remember, Jaguars lead the way!"
Sincerely,
Ms. Moreno
Principal

Student Life Report
Hello Families,
As always, I want to start by saying that you continue to be in my thoughts, and I hope that you are safe and healthy. Week two of distance learning is behind us, and my hope is that you are building a routine at home with your student around the current educational and communication platforms being used. That said, remember to be patient with yourself and ask for help! You got this!
Over the last month, I have connected with some of you via phone and provided you with tools you can use to help and support your student with distance learning.
Our teachers are doing their best to support your student, and our goal is to continue to provide them with the best education possible.
There are many loving and caring teachers and staff members who are eager to extend their support. Reach out with any questions or concerns.
STAY SAFE and HEALTHY!
Mr. Monroy
Counselor's Corner
Hello Jag Family,
Hopefully, all of you had a positive start to the new grading period. It is very important to finish strong over the next 6 weeks and to ask for help, if you need it. Ms. Alanis will be reaching out to students who got a D grade or lower in the last grading period. If you need help, please ask!
Announcement: The College and Career Pathways team will be assisting Seniors in completing their next steps for college. Please send your requests regarding college and post high school plans to Brittany Alvarez at balvarez@tfhe.org.
Please check out Ms. Alanis' newsletter for more information.

Message from Mrs. Indurkar
Congratulations to our MESA College Posterboard Competition Winners!
Dear Families,
MESA had a virtual College Posterboard Competition where students had to research a college of their choice, write an essay, and do a video presentation. I am extremely glad to inform you that our hard work has paid off and even in these unprecedented times of social distancing two of our students participated, overcoming all the challenges and hurdles of digital presentations and won second and third place!!! I think it is truly incredible.
Thank you for supporting our students through MESA.

Department Spotlight- ENGLISH
Ms. Fuentes & her dog Loca Ms. Fuentes has been staying home in order to stay safe. During her quarantine she has been watching documentaries, reading books and cooking. (Stay tuned for delicious meals and recipes). Remember that if you go out for a walk, or to a public place, wear a mask. P.S. Guess who's on Tik Tok? ;) | Ms. Lau & her FamilyMrs. Lau Manluco has been enjoying her time with her family. They enjoy going out on walks, while practicing safety guidelines by wearing their masks. When they are not playing badminton or four-square in their driveway, they enjoy sunbathing on their balcony. Mrs. Lau has also been reading books on COVID-19, poetry by Rumi and children's books read by Michelle Obama. | Ms. Villanueva Ms. Villanueva has enjoyed working from home. This has allowed her the opportunity to homeschool her son. The best part of working from home is that you can work from anywhere. Ms. Villanueva is currently watching Hunters and 90 day fiance. |

Self-Care
The current situation with COVID-19 and the effect it is having on our students' and families' lives can cause stress, anxiety and uncertainty, but you still have control over some things. Are you taking care of yourself?
The California Department of Education (CDE) has developed new pages with information regarding mental health resources. The new "Help for Students in Crisis" web page includes crisis and warm line numbers, COVID-19 related resources, information for mental health providers, families and youth.
