Follow your student's schedule, meet your student's teachers, learn about our student support departments and hear from our School Counselors. A mailing went with specific information about this event. There is no need to check in that evening if you have a copy of your child's schedule. If you need an additional copy, or are in need of language support please stop by the main entrance between 5:30PM and 5:55PM. Thank you!

The Boosters organization raises money each year to provide scholarships to outstanding seniors in each academic and vocational program. At Senior Awards Night last year, the Boosters gave out over $10,000 in scholarships! Please see the flyer below for more information.

Free and Reduced Lunch Form Reminder
A reminder for those students who had a free or reduced status for school breakfast and lunch
the previous school year at Keefe are granted a corresponding temporary status for 30 days
beginning with the first day of school. This temporary status will come to an end on October 11, 2019. Please keep in mind that if you have not already received notification from the Food Service Department of your new status, a new application for this school year should be submitted by October 11, 2019.
Students who have not submitted a new application by October 11, 2019, will be automatically returned to a full paid status.
All NEW students enrolled at Keefe, if you were previously at free or reduced status at your
sending school, you will need to apply with a NEW 19-20 Free and Reduced Lunch Application
before the start of school. Notification letters and or applications have been mailed to all families. If you have not received an application and need one you may download one from the Bronco Bulletin, our Keefe Tech website or pick one up at the school.

These Culinary Arts Juniors sharpened their canning skills this month making tangy Crab Apple Jelly and incredibly delicious Apple Butter. Many thanks to the Horticulture program for bringing in the harvest. What a great lesson!

Seniors who are planning to apply to 4-year colleges and universities should be working on their college applications, completing necessary essays and making sure they have connected with teachers about recommendations. Students should make an appointment with their School Counselor if they have not done so already. Deadlines come up quick and we want to make sure they everyone is on track.
Attention seniors: The deadline to register for the November 2nd administration of the SAT is Thursday, October 3rd! Instructions on how to register, as well as fee waivers are available in the Guidance Office. Register at http://collegeboard.com. Keefe Tech's CEEB Code is 220854.
Juniors and Seniors - Save the Dates!
Are you interested in learning about what it takes to get into a school like Wentworth institute of Technology? Wentworth will be visiting this coming Monday, September 16th at 10:30am. If you are interested in attending, sign up in the Guidance office.
College Lunch Visits - A representative from the schools below will be in the cafeteria during lunches if you are interested in learning more about their school and programs.

Representatives from multiple state universities will be at Keefe Tech to talk about their schools and programs and answer your questions. Confirmed schools as of right now are: FSU; Worcester State University; Fitchburg State university; Keene State University; Bridgewater State University
SENIORS!
Check your email from Ms. Fisichella - Do you need help starting your college application? If so, attend one of the following workshops (space is limited) hosted by your counselor, to start your online application to four year colleges. This workshop is for students who are interested in attending four year colleges, we will be hosting more sessions for students planning to go onto two year colleges later in the year. Link to sign up is in that email!
Keefe Tech is offering the PSAT to all grade 11 students free of charge on Wednesday, October 16th. The PSAT is a practice SAT exam. The purpose of this test is familiarize kids with the format of the real SAT exam and to get an idea of what you might score on the actual SAT test. The SAT is a test that many colleges/Universities require for admission (4 year). Colleges will not receive these scores.
All students are encouraged to take PSAT if they are considering 4 year college after graduation. Please note: this test is very LONG and will be scheduled during a shop week. We ask that students do not sign up for this exam to get out of class and that all students take this exam seriously.

Wednesday, October 30 at 7:30 AM - ASVAB Exam
Any student who is planning to move forward with a career in the military will need to take this exam. If you are thinking about the military as an option you can take the exam at Keefe Tech before making any commitments.
Families of Juniors and Seniors - Financial Aid Night
Thursday, October 24th from 6PM - 8PM.
- The School Counseling Department hosts a financial aid night for students planning to attend a 2 for 4-year college/university when they graduate from Keefe Tech.
- A representative from the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority will present important information
NEACAC College Fair at Worcester State University. Sunday, September 29th at 11 am - 1 pm.

Join the Herd Junior Campus Day will be held at Framingham State University on Saturday, October 19th from 9a.m. - 3p.m.

FSU offers College Readiness Seminar for Parents!
11th annual "College Readiness for Parents: What Every Parent Needs to Know" seminar being held at Framingham State University. It is scheduled for Thursday, October 17 at 7-9 PM. The focus of this event is NOT on financial aid but on helping parents understand the difficulties students have with the transition to college in order to help build the habits needed to become successful.
Topics to be discussed will be as follows:
- Expectations and assumptions of college faculty
- Work/study habits and organizational skills: high school vs. college
- Why getting good grades now is not a guarantee for future success
