NEW SOUTH WEBSITE
We have some exciting news to share! South Elementary will be transitioning to a new website soon. You’ll still be able to find us at www.d47.org/sou The new site will mirror the look-and-feel of the district’s website but will display only content specific to our school. We’ll also have a new school staff directory on our website by mid-August. We invite you to check back for this and other updates to our page while we’re under construction.
TEACHER ASSISTANT PROGRAM
Our Teacher Assistant Program (TAP) is seeking volunteers to help out in our workroom. TAP's job is to assist teachers with clerical and prep work such as laminating, copying, cutting, etc, giving teachers more time to focus on teaching.
Volunteers can assist in the following ways:
-Stop in before the start of the school year or before, during or after school to help. The timing is flexible.
-Stop in to take jobs home (such as trimming lamination) and return the finished work the next day.
-Come to our TAP Drop-In nights throughout the year.
Teachers have several jobs needed for the start of the school year so we could use your help right away. If you are new to TAP and would like some training we will be doing a TAP Room tour/training on the following dates.
Wednesday, August 11, 9:30-10:30am
Thursday, August 12, 1:00-2:00pm
Friday, August 13, 9:30-10:30
Tuesday, August 17, 9:30-10:30am
We currently do all of our communication through WhatsApp. Volunteers can download the app and use the following link to join our group and receive TAP updates and volunteer opportunities.

A NOTE FROM MRS. COOPER - SOUTH SOCIAL WORKER
Hello South Families,
I hope you had a peaceful and relaxing summer! It went by way too fast! I wanted to let you know that I will be taking a leave of absence from South this year, to address some family needs. During this school year, there will be another social worker working with the South community. Her name is Mrs. Jenna Divito, and she can be reached via our main line (815) 788-5400, once the school year officially begins for students. I will be consulting with her so she can become familiar with the students and our families. I know change is hard for everyone but I am confident Mrs. Divito will do an excellent job! Please reach out to Mrs. Divito, Ms. Angus (school psychologist), Mrs. Alt, or Mrs. Bauer if you have questions or need assistance. I wish all our South families a wonderful school year!
