Field Trip Reminder

Many of our classes are looking forward to exciting field trips in the coming weeks. In order for parents to accompany students on a field trip as a chaperone, a copy of all three (3) volunteer clearances MUST be on file in the office. Please feel free to contact the main office with questions.

Hoover Field Day

Hoover will hold its annual Field Day from on Friday, June 3, 2016. Please remember to dress your child for a day of outdoor activity. All students should wear athletic clothes and gym shoes. (No crocs, flip flops, sandals, etc.) Hats may be worn on field day. Please apply sunscreen on your child at home, prior to arriving at school for the day. We are hopeful for great weather! In the event of rain, the activities will be moved indoors.

String Parent Orientation

Our second grade families recently received a letter regarding string parent orientation. Unfortunately, we have learned that the date on this letter was incorrect. The parent orientation will be help on Wednesday, May 18th at the Jefferson Middle School Auditorium, beginning at 7:30PM. Again, we apologize for any confusion this may have caused and look forward to seeing you at the meeting!

Rising 5th Grade Parent Meeting

Families of current 4th Grade students are invited to attend an informational session about 5th Grade Activities on Thursday, May 27th at 3:00PM. We will meet in the Cafeteria and plan to conclude just before student dismissal at 3:30PM.

Summer Enrichment Program

Registration for Mt. Lebanon's Summer Enrichment program will open on May 13th. The Summer Enrichment Program provides enrichment activities for students in grades 3-7 and courses aim to provide an intellectually stimulating environment for elementary students during the summer months. Courses are offered from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. (Monday through Thursday) during four, week-long sessions from June 27-July 21.*

*Session II is held from 8:30-12:30, 7/5, 7/6 & 7/7 due to the holiday

**The Mark Woods Electrify your Strings Program, a part of the MTLSD Summer Enrichment program, will run from June 20-23. Registration is open now and will remain open until June 19th.


Principal's Notes

  • Your Information: Please inform the office if your phone number has changed from last year, or if it changes throughout the year.

  • Absences: For an absence, or a tardy, to be considered excused it must fall under the following categories set by the school board. Permissible excused absences from District Schools are: (1) personal illness/medical appointments, (2) death in the immediate family, (3) traditionally recognized religious holidays, (4) approved educational travel. For your convenience, a standard absence form has been added to the Hoover webpage. Find this and other helpful forms by clicking on the "Parent" link, then selecting "Forms."

  • Pick-Up/Drop-Off: To ensure the safety of our students, cars should not pull into the driveway between the hours of 8:00AM-9:00AM or 3:00PM-4:00PM. Additionally, please do not park along Robb Hollow in front of the building and exit your vehicle. Specific details regarding the Go Zone procedures can be found below.

  • Morning Arrival: In the morning, supervision is not available for students on the blacktop until 8:20AM. For safety reasons, students should arrive to school, no earlier than 8:20AM. After 8:30AM, students may use the front entrance.

  • Lunch/Recess: The school lunch/recess hour occurs daily from 12:00-1:00PM. Students who leave for lunch should return to the building by 12:55 and report to the Main Office.

  • Visitors: All visitors to the school will need to buzz in at the main entrance door and sign in at the office. We will continue to require visitors to obtain a visitors pass.
