Clean!
- Wash Hands
- Wash surface and utensils (after each use)
- Wash fruits and vegetables (not meat, poultry, or eggs)
Separate!
- Use separate cutting boards and plates for products (meat,poultry, seafood, and eggs)
- Keep meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs separate from all other foods (at grocery)
- Keep meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs separate from all other foods (in fridge)
Cook!
- Use a food thermometer
- Keep food hot after cooking (140 or above)
- Microwave food thoroughly (165 to kill Salmonella)
- ON a stove cook up to 155 to kill E-Coli
Chill!
- Refrigerate perishable foods within two hours
- Never thaw or marinate foods on the counter (fridge, cold running water, or microwave)
- Know when to throw food out
