Megan's Law Workshops- February 13th
On Thursday February 13th, we are offering the "You're In Charge" workshop from Parents for Megan's Law to all of our students. This is a very child friendly workshop designed to teach young children to be aware of their feelings, likes and dislikes, and to empower them to protect themselves from abuse. The workshop is presented in an upbeat manner by trained presenters.
If you do NOT want your child to participate, please make sure to contact your child's teacher as soon as possible and we will make other arrangements for your child.

PARP!
The annual "Pick a Reading Partner" (PARP) program is coming soon! This year PARP begins on Monday, March 2, and will run through Friday, March 13. This program, run by the PTA, is designed to encourage children to read with a parent, guardian, sibling, grandparent, or any other friend or family member for at least 15-20 minutes each day. Learning to read is the single most important activity in a child’s education. Reading a few minutes a day will help build vocabulary, improve comprehension and allow children to expand their imaginations.
The theme for this year’s program is “Readers Are Happy Campers!” Throughout the program we will have fun activities and theme wear days. Look for a PARP packet at the end of February and keep that calendar inside handy. It will serve as both a guide as well as your child's reading log. Minutes read with a partner will be tallied for individual and classroom prizes and awards earned, as well as a chance to win raffle prizes during Family Reading Night, which will be our closing PARP celebration on Monday, March 16. Last year Meadow students read over 100,000 minutes! Our goal is to surpass that number, so make every reading minute count!
Meadow Drive Reading Corner
World Read Aloud Day is February 5th! Our students will participate in read aloud activities on this date to celebrate the power of reading. Want to celebrate at home? Book recommendations:
If you are looking for a book series for your child, the Zooey and Sassafras chapter book series by Asia Citro is not to be missed! Zooey, a young girl, loves science and experimenting. She and her cat, Sassafras, help magical creatures solve their problems and heal their wounds using their scientific knowledge! These are great books to read to your child, or to pass along to your older child to read on his/her own. https://www.zoeyandsassafras.com/
