Teeland Middle School
March 2023
Letter from the Principal
3/01/2023
Dear Teeland Families,
The end of Quarter 3 is nearing quickly! Thank you to all the families that participated in Parent/Teacher Conferences last Friday. It is great to see so much support from our community! Spring break starts on March 10th for students. We return to school on March 20th, after what is hopefully, a fun and restful time off.
The transportation situation has caused hardship for many of our families. We realize the traffic situation is dangerous and frustrating. We have asked the troopers to be present to reduce careless driving, but they have a large area to cover and only 5 troopers on at a time. The schools on the Seward Meridian have also reached out to district office for more support in possibly advocating to the borough for more signage and lighting. Our staff is not permitted on the main road to direct traffic. Please continue to be safe and watch for students walking along the roads.
After Spring Break, we will be administering school-wide testing for our Alaska Science Assessment at the end of March. The science test is given to only 8th grade at the middle school level. The AK STAR for Language Arts & Math will be given to all grade levels the week of April 10th. It is important that your student be present for these tests and give their absolute best effort.
This May, Teeland will be again opting for an 8th Advancement Celebration instead of the traditional 8th Grade Promotion. Parents wanting to view the Advancement assembly will either have a live link available, or access to the recorded event. This is a student centered assembly and picnic for eighth grade students to spend time with their peers before moving on to their respective high schools. We will send more information about options for viewing in May.
Please reach out to us if you have any questions, 352-7500.
Mrs. Hinds
TMS, Principal

Nurses Notes!
Hello- Students, parents, and staff …
Sharing is not Caring!
Sharing food puts students’ health at risk with exposure to ALLERGENS, TOXIC CHEMICALS, and DRUGS!
Please TALK to your students about food safety, knowing what is in their foods and where it is coming from, helps eliminate nurse visits, provider visits, and EMS calls.
