Church Volunteer Network
Winter Newsletter 2018
Happy New Year from Church Volunteer Network! As we begin the new year, we are excited to share with you what God has been doing through gospel sharing events all across the Greater Sacramento Region and the role that CVN has played in providing support, encouragement and training to make sure God is proclaimed to people who need to hear it most. Enjoy the following stories of people in our region sharing the very best news with others.
Gospel Project Support Fund Reports
In the Fall of 2017, Church Volunteer Network was able to give $4,000 to five different gospel sharing outreaches for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season. Below are stories about two of these outreaches and the impact they had on their communities
Powerhouse Ministries Thanksgiving Meal
UGM Sacramento Thanksgiving Food Box Giveaway
CVN was also able to help provide support funding for Union Gospel Mission’s Food Box giveaway. This annual event helps 100 seniors and families have all the fixings they need to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The guests who came to this event sang Christmas songs and were introduced to the gospel message in the chapel service led my UGM’s senior chaplain, Pastor Tom Mooney. This year 15-20 people stood to receive Jesus after the sharing of the gospel! [read more]

Christmas Gifts for CVN Outreaches
In December of each year, CVN blesses each of its ongoing outreaches with gifts for the people who attend these events. This year we were able to give 155 fuzzy socks to the residents of 5 care home facilities, 140 socks and 50 rain ponchos to people experiencing homelessness, and 50 Christmas presents to children at an apartment complex outreach. Each gift was tied with a candy cane and a bible verse as a reminder of God’s love. Please pray that these verses bring comfort and joy to the people receiving them as many struggle during the holiday season.
