Scott 6th Grade Center's Motto- "We Enter to Learn and Leave to Achieve"
New Chromebook Distribution This Week
Students will turn in their old chromebook and charger and they will receive their new chromebook and charger. If your student's chromebook is out for repair, technology knows that. If your student did not receive their charger when they were given their chromebook this year, we know that. Students will only be charged if the chromebook has been lost or damaged.
Please make sure to remind your students to have their chromebooks and chargers with them this week so we can make the exchange successfully.
What Has Been Happening in Our Related Arts Classes?
In Mr Haitz’s STEM class, students have completed several “get to know you” activities, which included a “Name tag challenge” where students had to design a name tag that stands up, clearly shows their name, two things about themselves and holds a pencil. Students also decorated a virtual locker, including at least 10 images all about themselves to help Mr. Haitz get to know them. Students then completed the cup stacking challenge where they had to work as a team to stack cups without using their hands to get to know each other in STEM class
Mr. Platt’s Health class started the school year with a focus on getting to know one another and participating in some teamwork/collaborative activities. They started learning about the “health triangle”, which includes physical, social, and mental/emotional health. In order to better understand each aspect of the triangle, the students participated in a “This or That” fitness video, played “Spot It” and followed along with a 5-minute meditation video. Most recently, they started reviewing different healthy and unhealthy behaviors.
Art class is making graffiti name designs and exploring the meaning of creative symbolism within the arts. As an introduction to 2D design students are challenged to use the principles of balance and composition to create something meaningful. Students discovered the importance of celebrating culture within the arts and finished the pieces with brightly colored accents!
Would You Like to Volunteer at Scott?
We have started the year off well and are looking forward to a successful 2023-2024 school year. As you know, it takes a village! I would love to invite families that are able to volunteer time at Scott. That time can look like supporting in our library, reading with students, making copies, helping on our fun days, or even chaperoning a field trip.
If this is something you are interested in, please see the attached document outlining rules, expectations, and needed paperwork.
Code of Conduct
We have had a great start to the school year at Scott, and I know our students will continue to follow the expectations for the school year. We will continue to review and reinforce rules in classrooms, teams and as a whole school.
The School Board approved our 2023-2024 Code of Conduct. Please click on the link below to read the code of conduct. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
