Important Dates for Seniors

  • Senior STUDENT meeting - Tuesday, Sept. 24th 9:00 AM. High School Little Theatre=Topics for Senior meetings: Post Secondary Planning, FAFSA, College Applications, Scholarships, Help days/nights, Resources. HERE is the information covered.
  • October 1st- FAFSA opens - Check with colleges of interest for priority deadlines for scholarships - as they all vary!!!!!! (link below FAFSA/Scholarship Tip Link has dates for many of the colleges) ALL students planning to attend college should fill this out, regardless of financial situation - some scholarships require it be on file.
  • College Week @ ELC HS - Oct. 28th - Nov. 1st - College related events/activities at the HS
  • College Application Day at ELC - Wed. Oct. 30th 8:00-1:30 (for those who need help or haven't applied)
  • Mon. Nov. 11th (same evening as Parent/Teacher conferences) - 5-5:30 HS Library - Steve Pelzer presenting to parents on Financial Aid 5:30-7 open work time, Volunteers available to assist students/guardians with FAFSA, applications, anything college related!
  • FAFSA Help Session - Wed. Monday Dec. 9th 2pm-8pm @ Estherville Public Library

College Application Day

Wednesday, Oct. 30th, 8am-1:30pm

High School Media Center (OLC room)

Volunteers on hand to help students apply to college.

College Planning Assistance Help Night!

Monday, Nov. 11th, 5-7pm

High School Media Center

5-5:30 Brief meeting on Financial Aid

5:30-7 Help Session = Volunteers will be available to assist parents/students in filling out their FAFSA, college applications, scholarships, etc. See link HERE for what to bring!

FAFSA Completion Event (by appt)

Monday, Dec. 9th, 2-8pm

Estherville Public Library

This will be another opportunity for Seniors/Parents to complete the FAFSA with assistance. Appointments are appreciated for this event. Please email to set up a time. Please have your FSA ID completed before attending. HERE is a link of what to bring to complete the FAFSA.

AmeriCorps College Access Coach @ ELC

We welcome Ashley Bonner to ELC! Mrs. Bonner is working in a grant funded position through AmeriCorps. Mrs. Bonner is available to assist students and/or their families with College Planning and Financial Aid. She can assist with FAFSA, College Applications, ACT Registrations and College Planning in general.

Key Resources and Events

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is a critical piece of the college going process. You will need an FSA ID number in order to complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA can be completed as early as Oct. 1st of the students 12th grade year.
