Counselor Connection
10/19/22
Parents of Freshmen
Counselors visited Physical Earth Science classes on Thursday, October 27th. Students logged-in to Infinite Campus to work on a 4-year academic plan. The academic plan will help ensure students choose appropriate classes to fulfill graduation requirements and assist them in educational and career goals. The slide show can be found HERE. Please ask your student to see their academic plan. This lesson is part of the District 196 MyPlan comprehensive counseling curriculum; each student’s high school academic, career, personal/social post-secondary plan.
FAFSA EHS Completion Night
EHS Counselors are hosting a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completion night. The FAFSA is required for any student seeking federal and state financial aid, including grants and loans at all colleges in the country. We will have a local college Financial Aid Officer to answer questions and assist with completing the online form. This is for seniors who are applying for financial aid for college next year. Both student AND at least one parent/guardian should attend.
Please bring the following:
Student and Parent Social Security Numbers (don’t need cards, just know the numbers)
Student and Parent 2021 federal income tax returns, including W2s and all schedules and attachments.
Student and Parent email account logins (be able to access your email during the work session)

MN Private College Exploration
Now is a great time for high school students to start exploring their Minnesota private colleges options. A campus visit is a great way to see yourself on campus and learn what makes each institution unique. Use the link below to find visit options — both on campus and virtual — at our member colleges and universities. These options include pre-arranged group events as well as sessions you set up. And if you’re short on time, consider taking virtual campus tours. (To see a listing of events offered by several institutions all in one place, you also can use the group events calendar below; new events are added regularly.)

This workshop is taught by a trained young adult and empowers teens to take charge of their lives by providing education on mental illnesses, treatment options and hope for recovery. It is a safe space to talk to others who are going through similar experiences and to not feel alone. While teens are attending the workshop, caregivers and parents are invited to gather with a family peer support specialist and follow a similar curriculum to gain awareness of resources, practice skills for mental health wellness and support one another.
