High School Weekly Update

From Co-Principals Ruby Bode & Chuck Scott

April 9, 2021

Dear EPHS Family,

April is National Volunteer Month! We want to thank all those in our community who have volunteered at our schools over the years. We have missed you this year, and we are hopeful that in the upcoming school year we will be able to invite our volunteers back into our buildings to serve our students! We are incredibly grateful for the positive mentoring and support you provide for our students at EPHS!

Sincerely,

Ruby Bode & Chuck Scott

Local Covid-19 Vaccination Event!

The hospital will be having a vaccine clinic in Estes at the Estes Park Events Center this Sunday!

Please call the clinic at 970.586.2200 to schedule an appointment. It is by appointment only and for ages 18 and over.

Need a COVID-19 test?

Here are some options:

  • NEW!!! On-site BinaxNOW™️ testing is available at Estes Park School District. Offering results within 15 minutes, this free option is open to all students. Testing is at the Observatory from 8-9am by appointment and signed parent consent form.

Testing available at other sites:

If a test is negative, symptoms have resolved, and the student is able to wear a mask they may return to school.

Positive test results will require quarantine and siblings also need to quarantine as well. We recommend siblings are tested too. If siblings test negative it will not release them from a 10-day quarantine, but will assist the school with contact tracing and quarantining contain the spread of the virus.

Please remember to call your school's front office and report your child absent/ill so that they can track their symptoms and notify you of your child's return to school date.

Summer jobs, Internships, and Apprenticeships!

Estes Park High School, the Estes Chamber, the Estes EDC, and Larimer County Workforce, are partnering to host a virtual hiring event to support the Estes Valley in some seasonal talent acquisition. If your student is looking for a summer job, internship, or apprenticeship, this is right up their alley!

Starting on Monday, April 19th, students can browse open positions with local employers through our virtual hiring platform. The following week beginning Monday, April 26th, we'll be hosting Employer Spotlight events to make local opportunities available directly to our High School students. Students will hear from business partners like the Town of Estes Park, Bird & Jim, and Estes Valley Recreation and Parks (to name a few) about the roles they're hiring, pay, benefits, and workplace culture. Keep an eye out for our platform launch link and Employer Spotlight event schedule coming soon!

Graduation is Friday, May 28

Our EPHS Graduation Ceremony will take place on Friday, May 28. The time is not confirmed yet. Plans are in the works, and will have to be approved by the school district and LCDHE. We will provide details in our newsletter as they develop.

At this moment, we are planning to have the graduation ceremony outside in the stadium in late morning or early afternoon. The ceremony will not be open to the public. Only relatives of the graduates will be in attendance. This means relatives outside of the household to include grandparents, aunts/uncles, etc. In May, we will have each graduate provide an RSVP informing us who will be in attendance, so we know exactly how many people will be at the event and can plan accordingly.

We will provide more information as our plans develop and are approved. Since it will not be open to the public, we will be live-streaming it for everyone in our community to watch who is unable to attend.

Prom is April 24

I know you are anxiously awaiting decisions about our Prom at the Stanley Hotel on April 24. Our students on the Prom committee are working with their teacher advisors to plan our Prom this year.

We will be able to provide a covid-19 test for every student attending prior to the event and after the event. We will be publishing more details as we get them from the prom committee.

Athletics

Our students in Season C athletics are having great success in volleyball, football, and boys soccer. Congratulations to all of these teams for continuing to experiencing wins and close games this season! We are cheering for you!

Our Season D athletics begin April 26 with the first official practices for Track & Field, girls soccer, baseball, boys swimming, and girls golf. First games are the 29th, and this season will finish at the end of June.
