Message from the Principal
Dear Slate Hill families,
We enjoyed a week of fun-filled spirit days last week as we celebrated the importance of reading during Read Across America week. I think that our Slate Hill Stars loved "Snuggle Up and Read, Wear Pajamas day" the best. I could tell by the smiles on their faces that it was going to be a Great Day at the Slate on Friday!
We hope you have it on your calendar to join us this Wednesday, March 8th for our first ever Slate Hill Art Festival from 6-8pm. This is an event for your entire family to see art your child has created and to make some art in various locations throughout the building. All of the art making stations will have the materials and directions on how to complete the projects. Everything that your child makes at our art festival will be for them to take home that night. There will also be a fairy door scavenger hunt. Students will pick up a card at the welcome table for the scavenger hunt. They will write the name of the fairy on their card once they find them on the numbered doors and then turn in their card in the box outside of the art room. Several students will be selected the next day to win an art supply/kit prize. We hope you can join us!
Also, don't forget that there is no school this Friday, March 10th!
Make it a Great week,
Julie (=

Panorama Survey
Dear Slate Hill Families,
We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. As you may already be aware, building our well-being and social-emotional learning skills is an important goal for our school this year and every year. Over the next few weeks, students will participate in several exercises to better understand these concepts and to reflect on how they perceive these skills in themselves.
As we have done for the last several years, we will be asking for your child to reflect on his/her own mindsets and approaches to learning via an online survey. The survey shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes to complete and will be administered during a two-week window from March 20-31.
We are partnering with Panorama Education, a third-party vendor, to support us in administering these surveys. The survey content will ask students in grades 3-12 to self-reflect on School Safety, Teacher-Student Relationships, Sense of Belonging, Rigorous Expectations, and Self-Efficacy. Additionally, our students in grades 6-12 will also be asked to self-reflect on two additional topics; Diversity and Inclusion and Cultural Awareness.
Student voice matters to us and their responses will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our instruction to meet their needs. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether.
If you have any questions about the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) survey, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office at 614-450-5000.
