Terra Linda Tiger Tale

Principal's Message
Dear Terra Linda Families,
I hope you had a good week. Do your children have high-interest books to read at home? If not, consider visiting the Cedar Mill or Bethany Libraries. You can also email our Library Assistant, Angela Padilla, at angela_padilla@beaverton.k12.or.us and she would be more than happy to help find your child some books. She will send them home with in-person hybrid students, or you can pick them up during Grab & Go on Wednesdays. I also hope you read out loud to your children each day. Choose a good story that will interest everyone! For example, our family is making our way through the Harry Potter series right now. Both of my children are able to enjoy the story. Our school library or the public library could make suggestions to fit your family's interests!
Next week is Staff Appreciation Week. I know you join me in celebrating the amazing feats our teachers have accomplished this year from teaching all day on Zoom to shifting to half days in person and half days online. I am so appreciative of the efforts our staff has made to make this year as successful as possible for every one of our students. If you would like to share your appreciation with any of your child's teachers (classroom teacher, music or PE teacher, small group teacher, etc) I know they would most appreciate a card or drawing to share your appreciation with them. Students could bring a handmade card to school, drop it off during Grab & Go, post it to Seesaw or Canvas, or send something by email. Please know that Oregon Ethics rules for public employees prevent our staff from accepting more than $50 from any family in a year unless donations are used for classroom supplies. I am confident our teachers would most appreciate any personal sentiments you wanted to send to them. Thank you for helping to celebrate our staff!
Below are a few announcements. Thank you for staying connected to Terra Linda!
With appreciation,
Christy

Walk + Roll Challenge Week - May 3-7
Calendar Reminders (Repeat)
Every Wednesday is a School Day: We've noticed a lot of absences on Wednesdays. Please know that all in-person hybrid and full CDL students have a meeting with their classroom teacher at 8:30am (schedules might be different for students in the SRC). Please be sure your students are signing in for school every Wednesday (a few exceptions listed below). During this morning meeting, teachers review expectations for the remainder of the day. Students should then complete their assignments and activities independently after their morning meeting ends. All students also have a Wellness lesson on Wednesdays. The lesson is either posted on Seesaw and should be completed independently, or the lesson is delivered live on Zoom by Mrs. Edmunds and Mr. Leijon. Details are on the Wellness class in Seesaw.
Monday, May 31: Schools are closed in observance of Memorial Day
Wednesday, June 2: Instructional Wednesday: In-Person Hybrid students will have school at Terra Linda from 9:00-11:15am and Full CDL students will have school on Zoom from 12:15-2:30pm. The asynchronous half of the day will run like a typical Tuesday.
Friday, June 18: Last day of school for the 20-21 school year
