LRMS: Week at a Glance
April 11 - 15, 2016
Sayings from Skinner
I hope you each had an amazing Spring Break -- and feel very rested to begin the "final haul!" It is so hard to believe that only 6 weeks remain in this school year -- and the next three will be of supreme importance. I do hope many of our students took advantage of the Cyber-learning opportunities you all provided for them -- and I also hope that many more take advantage of grade-raising opportunities (as the deadline for inclusion in the Honors Ceremony is THIS Thursday, April 14, at 5:00 p.m.) as well as all the last-minute review and studying you all will be providing as students move into the last days prior to GA Milestones.
If anyone needs ANYTHING to help you out these final weeks, please ask -- a colleague, a counselor, an AP, or me! We want to work together to keep discipline strong and consistent, to keep teaching and learning at the forefront of all we do, and to FINISH STRONG in every aspect of Living the Radloff Way!!!! Thank you for your amazing dedication to our students --- the sunshine that has emerged has re-energized me and I hope it has done so for you! I do LOVE being a Radloff Raider and working alongside such AMAZING educators!!!! Thank you for the privilege!!!
Sarah
News You Can Use
*Don't forget that Eric Nielsen is now a married man!!! Wish him well!
*Sarah Farr is not with us as we expect the arrival of her new little boy any moment -- will update with details as we know them!
*Welcome back to Dawson Devitt after his early Spring "break" --- but WHAT dedication in his absence -- he even SKYPED in during Spring Forward -- now THAT's the Heart of a True Educator who wants to make a difference! And a huge thanks to all of his teammates for keeping things "moving" in his absence!
*Thanks to Colonel Quick for keeping Radloff "moving on up" --- we anticipate a visit this week from Mr. Duke Doubleday, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army! Just be on the lookout for a potential VIP and help him feel welcome!!
*Congrats to Wayne Dail for securing Radloff yet another amazing grant!!! Radloff has been award a Captain Planet Learning Garden grant -- and this is another step in our efforts to bring our STEAM Academy to life -- and give ALL of our kids more opportunities at hands-on, real-world learning!! THANKS, Wayne -- and congratulations!
*Also -- congrats to 8th grader Razat Sutradhar for being the 2016 Money Smart Week Essay Contest winner!! Holly Hall has been the "spearheader" of this competition here at Radloff, and Morgan Montgomery did an outstanding effort of getting more kids than ever compete!! Razat will now go on to represent the State of Georgia as the MONEY SMART KID OF THE YEAR!!!!

3) DEADLINES to KNOW:
*Submit your HR rosters with Spring Break Cyber Learning info by Tuesday, 4/12
*Thursday, April 14, 5:00 -- Deadline to enter ANY grades for consideration for Academic Awards (A's and A's/B's) for Spring Honors Ceremony (NO EXCEPTIONS!)
*Pay attention to ALL testing emails/meetings this week -- info. is rolling out from the DOE at the VERY last minute --- it is EVERY teacher's and educator's job to know the in's and out's of testing -- we'll forward everything we have/know as soon as it arrives!!!
*Remind students that GA Milestones scores WILL be considered in every subject at every grade level -- they need at least a level 2 to be considered passing -- they have access to their scores from last year via the portal -- teachers may/may not be able to see scores for all students -- the district is STILL working on this info!!!
4) Area 5 Board of Education Meeting -- THIS WEEK -- April 14, at 7:00 at MHS Theater (reception starts at 6:15 -- catered by our Mustang Caterers!)
This event is open to all -- would be nice for some folks to attend (particularly if you're interested in Leadership). It is quite formal, so come in professional dress. Should be done by 9:00, if not before -- Mr. Wilbanks will discuss the budget for next year as well as the district's direction -- very informational, if you have never attended one! (We will sit together as a Radloff crew, so look for any LRMS Administrators if you come, so you can join us!)
5) For 2016-17:
*Any updates for next year will be forwarded as they become more "firm."
*We WILL need more folks with ESOL certification -- please see Gayla LeMay for details on how to complete this --- we will have a TON of ESOL students (or immediately former ESOL) joining us -- so the more folks who are certified, the more FTE money (for hiring the following year) we earn! Please consider taking this GACE!!!
*If you have things about Radloff you LOVE or things you want to TWEAK, tell your CAT Captain or any ILT member NOW -- we are making plans NOW for next year!!!
