December 18, 2023
On Thursday, December 7th, I had the opportunity to “step aside” as we welcomed 2nd grader Caysen R. into the office as “Principal for a day.” Caysen took on a wide array of responsibilities throughout our building and accomplished them with ease. In every classroom that we entered, students were thrilled to have the opportunity to interact with Caysen as he put on a smile and dove right into whatever they were learning/working on! Here are some of the highlights of Caysen’s time as principal:
Spent time in every single classroom in our building throughout the day where he worked with students, checked in on what classes were doing, etc.
Helped me check each entrance of the building to ensure they were secure and used the walkie talkie to communicate with me while doing so.
Ran several errands for the office staff.
Enjoyed lunch in his office with some friends.
Chose two books and classrooms for me to read to.
Assisted with running the 5th grade spelling bee.
Got a tour of all the "behind the scenes" parts of the building.
I asked Caysen to write a short message about his day and this is what he had to say:
"When i wus principle that i got to be on on the roof. I got to see evey class. I got to see plasis i couldn't see. I got to play with the wolkie tolkie. I got to eat with my friends in the principle office too."
MAP TESTING - KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADES 5
Please read this informational letter in regards to MAP testing for Grades K through 5th. MAP testing will begin January 8th and continue through January 19th.
DRESS FOR THE WEATHER
Just a reminder that we seek every opportunity to get our students outside for fresh air during their school day. With the chilly temperatures forecasted this week, it is imperative that students come prepared for the weather. Our staff use their best judgment in determining whether or not a student is prepared to be outdoors, but this is not a confrontation our staff wants to be in with students who are yearning to run with their friends. Please send your child(ren) with appropriate attire. Here are some general guidelines for what we are looking for in regards to outdoor attire:
50-60 degrees: Long sleeves
40-50 degrees: Jacket
<40 degrees: Winter jacket, hat/mittens
