Health Room Reminders
While we prepare for the end of the year and holiday break, nurses want to remind parents/ guardians that students should be sent to school when they are healthy and feel well enough to learn and participate in school. The nurses are seeing many students with viral cold symptoms, strep throat, COVID, flu and GI illness. MPS policy is that students should remain out of school for 24 hours after a fever or vomiting/ GI illness. Please speak with your pediatrician if your student is struggling with symptoms lasting more than a couple of days.
As a final reminder, all students should have up to date immunizations prior to attending school. All incoming 4th, 7th and 11th grade students are required to submit a new physical exam with up to date immunizations.
- 7th graders should have an updated Tdap and Meningococcal vaccine along with their physical exam that includes a vision screen and scoliosis screen.
- 11th graders should have an updated Meningococcal vaccine along with their physical exam.
All updated physicals can be sent to healthforms@miltonps.org. Subject line should include your student’s name and grade.
Transportation Update
Good news from the Transportation Department! At a recent Select Board meeting, it was voted to approve one additional bus for the Milton Public Schools. This new bus will be ready to go in January 2024.
The Transportation Department is working directly with First Student to create a route that will reduce the number of students on the MHS/Pierce bus waitlist who live the farthest away from their school. It will also help to reduce bus travel time on some of the longer elementary routes. Impacted students and families will be contacted soon with further information.
We understand that this will not alleviate the transportation issue for all students and families. The Transportation Department will continue to monitor bus ridership and contact families if space becomes available.
Innovative Pathways-Schools to Careers
Innovative Pathways allow students early insight to careers that suit their interests and abilities and encourage paths that they may not otherwise have discovered. Our partners, School to Careers and MassHire, provide Milton students opportunities to forge these discoveries. Both will help connect students with local employers in specific industries for our Internship Program and help to offer real life work experiences for our students in our Career Readiness class.
Click here for specific programs that may interest you. This will be updated as more opportunities are confirmed. Contact Joyce White with any questions jwhite@miltonps.org.
MHS Club Fees
We encourage all of our students to be active members of our MHS community. One of the ways to do this is to be involved in a club or sport at MHS. This is just a sampling of some of the things we have to offer. You can always refer to our Daily Bulletin for meeting times and locations for any clubs at MHS!
Now that our clubs are up and running club fees are now due. Please use our online payment system Unibank linked here (or on the MPS homepage) to pay all club fees. The cost is $25 per club with a cap of $50 per student per year. Thank you for your prompt payment of club fees.
