A Message From the Principal
Please mark your calendars! Kindergarten registration for the 2021-2022 school year is fast approaching. If you have a Kindergartener or Transitional Kindergartener (TK) that will be starting school next year, you are invited to begin registration today! To begin the registration process, log in to the TVUSD website and click on the enrollment tab. Please be sure to complete the registration application by March 16th. If you should need any assistance or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our attendance clerk, MS. Bev Barber.
We have had a lot of questions concerning Chronic Attendance Letters that were mailed home to numerous families last week. Although schools are closed for onsite learning, school attendance is still required and mandated by law. If a student misses 10% or more days from the date of their enrollment, they are considered to be chronically absent from school and we are required to notify parents. The automated letters are generated from Infinite Campus and are based on the daily attendance reported by the classroom teacher. Please note that online learning attendance is taken daily at 8:55 a.m. If your child is not online at the time attendance is taken, they are marked absent even if they attend later in the day. A student may be considered chronically absent whether or not the absences are excused or unexcused. If your child is going to be absent from school, please call the automated attendance line at 951 294 6761. We recognize that educating children during a pandemic is difficult and we so appreciate your time, efforts, and support!
Are you curious if your child is attending school consistently, completing assignments, and getting good grades? The Infinite Campus Portal can help to answer all of these questions. Please be sure to log in and see how your child is doing in school. If you need assistance with accessing the portal, let us know, we would be glad to help!
As you know all students in K- through grade 5 have been taking an online, diagnostic reading assessment. This assessment tool provides the teacher with specific data about your child's progress in reading. The teacher uses this information to target instruction and remediation specifically to your child's needs. Although it is tempting to assist your child with this assessment, we kindly remind you to let your child complete the test on their own. It is important the teacher has a baseline of what your child can do independently so instruction is targeted correctly. As with any assessment, the goal is to determine what the child knows and doesn't know so appropriate planning and instruction are beneficial. We thank you for your support!
Is your child struggling with online learning? Did you know that every teacher offers intervention 4 days per week in the afternoons? Our intervention block is built into the regular school day and is a valuable resource for students needing support. If your child is invited to intervention, please encourage them to attend! If you have questions or need additional information, please reach out to your child's teacher.
May this month be filled with all that you love and may it be sprinkled in care and kindness. It is a privilege to serve this community as Principal and I look forward to the day we can all be reunited on this beautiful campus, we miss our OWLS!
Fondly,
Jenniffer Aynesworth

A Note from Preschool
We are super excited to be welcoming some of our kiddos back to campus! Some of our district special education cohorts will be reopening next week, and we remain hopeful we will be able to see all of our students back in school very soon!
Also, you may have received information from the district regarding enrolling/registering your child for TK/Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year. Please note, you will NOT be able to register at this time. Students enrolled in a special education preschool class cannot register until after a transition amendment is completed. At that time, you will receive specific instructions on how to register your child for TK/Kindergarten. Be assured that the district will be holding a spot for your child, so you don't have to worry about classes filling up before you are able to register.
Take care, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

Message from PTO
Hello AES Families, Teachers, and Staff,
Wow, another month has passed and we are entering into the month of February. This month we would like to spread some joy and kindness by celebrating Random Acts of Kindness week. We all know Kindness can be contagious, so let’s spread some throughout our community! February 14th through February 20th is Random Acts of Kindness Week. What a great opportunity to do some random acts of kindness and spread some joy. Please see the attached flyer for ideas of how you can help in spreading Kindness.
Our next Spirit Day is Kindness Day on February 19th. If you would like to participate, please send us some pictures of you and your family acting out a random act of kindness or wearing a shirt that encourages kindness and we will share them on our Facebook, website, and in our Mission Possible Mondays. We love to see your school spirit.
We would like to give a big thank you to everyone who came out and participated in our Jersey Mike’s/Monsta Snow Spirit Night in December, you helped us raise another $604.58 for our library. We are really grateful to Mrs. Tina Goff for organizing the event for us. We hope you all enjoyed the night.
Who wants to share their talent with our AES community? We are so excited to announce that we will be hosting a Virtual Talent Show this year. Our theme is going to be “Near or Far our AES Students and Their Families Shine Like Stars”! That’s right everyone, we are inviting everyone who would like to participate this year to join in the fun. You can do an act as a family, you can do a solo or duet, maybe a mommy and me or daddy and me act, or maybe grandma and grandpa want to share a talent. We invite our teachers and staff to join in as well. We are so excited about this virtual event. Please check out the information on the Virtual Talent Show Flyer attached to this newsletter for more information. If you have any questions please email Casey at the PTO email list below.
If you know a student, parent, teacher, or staff member that is doing an amazing job with Learning Beyond the Building send them a shout-out to our PTO email and they will be mentioned in our Mission Possible Mondays, on our Facebook, and website.
If you have ever had any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to our PTO President at alamospto@gmail.com. You can follow us and stay up to date with important information on our website at https://alamospto.wixsite.com/alamoselementarypto and on our Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/AlamosElementarySchoolPTO.
