My interactions with some of our faculty members really impacted me this week.
After a leadership team meeting about our instructional practices, one teacher felt compelled to reach out to a teacher in another system to learn how their faculty members incorporate rigor into their courses and achieve amazing results on Milestones. She can't wait to put what she has learned into practice.
After that same instructional discussion another teacher told me that he felt that he had wasted many years before realizing his potential. He now wants to share his gifts with his colleagues to help make their lives easier.
While at the Special Olympics ceremony I was talking with a co-worker and watching the student athletes and volunteers. She talked about other employment opportunities that she had turned down because she "gets to come to high school every day" and loves it.
Another situation led me to thank a teacher for his assistance in a student conflict. This was part of his response, "I made a personal decision several years ago to run toward any problem if one arises at Thomas County Central. Times are troubling and I want you to know that I pray for you and our school every day."
These small interactions throughout the week touched my heart and, in some cases, brought tears to my eyes.
I am so thankful to work with such amazing people. I appreciate and love you all.
