Any high school junior or senior who would like to learn more about Harvard and its admissions process is welcome to attend this gathering which will last approximately 90 minutes. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend as well. Local alumni interviewers will be present to describe student opportunities at Harvard and the admissions process. Harvard’s extensive financial aid program will also be discussed.

College Admissions 101

STEPS TO APPLYING TO A UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE

Step 1: Apply online and early! Start a checklist of all application requirements, deadlines, fees, usernames/passwords, etc.


Step 2: After submitting your application:


  • Submit payment of application fee or submit fee waiver (if you are on free/reduced lunch or are in AVID please see your school counselor for college application fee waivers)
  • Send official transcripts (order from guidance office-$3 per form)
  • Check to make sure your official SAT/ACT scores were sent to the schools you applied to (you will need to send directly from actstudent.org and/or collegeboard.org)
  • Submit any additional university requirements (essays, recommendation letters, etc).


Your application will not be considered for review without all of the necessary requirements.


Don't forget to follow up with the universities to make sure your application is complete!

QuestBridge National College Match

The QuestBridge National College Match is a college and scholarship application process that helps outstanding low-income high school seniors gain admission and full four-year scholarships to the nation's most selective colleges.


Deadline: All components of application are due September 27, 2016 (teacher recommendations, school profile, secondary school report, transcript, test scores)

Coalition Application

There's a new college application platform in town! Watch out, Common App, because the Coalition Application has started rolling out new features. Although the full application won't be available until July, we wanted to poke around and show you what we know so far, and what you can expect in the coming months.
