Staff Changes at Father John V. Doyle School

February 11, 2020

Dear Fr. John V. Doyle Community,

The Peace of Christ be with you. I’m writing you today to announce some upcoming staffing changes at our school.

Joyce Laboissonniere, who has served our school in various positions over the past nine years, will be moving on at the end of this week to a new position working for the City of Warwick. We are so grateful for Joyce's many years of dedicated service to our school, and we wish her all the very best in her future endeavors.

We have taken this opportunity to restructure the full time, year-round administrative assistant position into two, part-time positions, both of which we have filled.

Firstly, I am happy to announce that our new part-time Administrative Assistant is Mrs. Kathy Boiardi. Kathy needs no introduction to many of you, she has been an FJVD parent for the past seven years, with her son Matthew currently in fifth grade. Throughout her time here, Kathy has been a very active volunteer at the school: she’s the co-chair of our annual Car Show (which she originally started), is on the School Auction Committee, Development Committee, and PTO (having served in the past as PTO President), subs as a teacher’s aide, is a school representative on our Parish Council, and does countless other things for our school throughout the year. Kathy is one of the biggest cheerleaders for our school, and her friendly disposition and enthusiasm for Fr. John V. Doyle will serve her well in her new job, as she will be one of the first points of contact for families who call or drop by the school to inquire about enrolling.

The newly restructured Administrative Assistant’s hours will be Monday-Friday from one hour prior to the start of school to early afternoon. The main office will then be covered from early afternoon to 3pm by a part time position at our school that we haven’t had for some years: a Coordinator of Marketing and Development. I’m happy to announce that we have hired Mrs. Jennifer Marra for this position. Like Kathy, Jen Marra needs no introduction to many of you: her son Steven is a fourth grader at FJVD, and she is a very active volunteer at our school, especially in helping to run most of the PTO events such as the Glow Dance, Book Fair, and Christmas Shop, as well as assisting with our school auction.

For the past two years, Jen has also functioned as a kind of unofficial marketing and development coordinator for the school, creating brochures, open house ads, lawn signs, surveys, and other media to help get the word out about our school. She has also played a role in assessing future marketing strategies for the school, working closely with me in reaching out to local businesses and corporations for sponsorships, and running the annual alumni appeal. And so, I’m very pleased that we now have the opportunity to bring Jen on board as an official part time Coordinator of Marketing and Development! While the position will only be a few hours a week to start, our goal is to expand it in the coming years as income through development and fundraising efforts continues to increase, just as it has been these past two years.

Kathy and Jen will begin their new positions when we return from school break on February 24. Please join me in warmly welcoming them aboard!

I pray that all of you have a blessed, restful and healthy vacation time!

God bless,

Fr. Woolley
