Dominican Food

The food you find here will satisfy your taste buds over there excpectations. Rice, tubers, and plantations are all common ingredients used for delicious dishes. To go along with the tasty food, Dominicans drink a lot of local fruit juice. The Dominican Flag is a regular dish served for lunch. Dominican kids drink a lot of milkshakes made from REAL milk. Get ready to EAT.

LANDMARKS/HISTORICAL SIGHTS

Santiago is the Tobacco growing region there is even a Tobacco muesum. The opening scene from Jurassic Park where DNA is extracted from an amber trappped insect was filmed on the amber coast towards the northern coast. While you're here you may want to visit Cordillea Central.Cordillea Central is the highest point in the west indes sometimes covered in snow/frost. A popular gathering place is Parque Colon this is a bronze statue of Christopher Colombus.

LANGUAGE

2 languages very easy to speak the 1st language is Spanish, the 2nd language is English. Every Spanish word spoken in the D.R. has the s taken off the end of the word if it is the last letter of the word. Spanish is the official language but African words have been added. Some of the words were adopted from the Taino language.

Average weather is 77 degrees-82 degrees year round! The perfect weather!

HISTORY

Every last week of July there is a large merengue festival celebrated in Santo Domingo where musicians from all around the island gather to do the national dance over and over again that's not all though very delicious foods are brought in from around the island. Dominicans have a choice between Civil marriage. More than 80% Civil marriage cause it is harderto get a divorce with a church marriage.

TOURISM

Baseball is a HUGE sport in the D.R. the D.R. sends more of their baseball players to the U.S.A. then any other country. After Trujillo was assassinated the new leaders tried to attract tourists.
