East Elementary: Welcome Back!

Professional Learning for the 2020-2021 School Year

East family,

I know this past season has been filled with unknowns and uncertainity. We never could have imagined this would be our currently reality. My prayer is that you have had some moments over the past several months where you have been able to truly rest and enjoy time with your family. I know it has been a time for me to reevaluate what is truly most important.

In just one week, we will all finally be under one roof again and I could not be more thrilled! We have missed you and our students so much and can't wait to begin to put the pieces of what we hold dear back together again. Even if we have to just take one small step at a time.

I couldn't feel more confident in our team and in our ability to walk this out with the families we serve.

So enjoy these last few days of summer, begin to dream big about the students we will serve this year, and look for joy in the midst of our journey. You are loved and we will be here to take every single step with you as we welcome our East families back!

Love you all,

Melissa, Courtney, and Tana

District Plan for 2020-2021

We expect that the district plan will be shared with all of you in the very near future. It was finalized early today.

The plan is lengthy and has lots of very important details about our operating procedures and how we will handle instruction. Pace yourself - and read carefully through the plan. Please do not panic. Take the time to write down questions you have and know that we will address each one.

Your leads have been a part of conversations about the major components of the plan and they are ready to respond to your questions and listen to your thoughts. And of course, Tana, Courtney, Rachel, and I are here to help in any way that we can.

We will spend our time back together beginning on August 3rd working through details and making sure everyone feels confident about our plans.

Details about our August days can be found below.

Please remember - we are family and we will walk this journey together. As Courtney reminded me earlier today -- we were all created for such a time as this!

Preparing for the School Year

Just a few tips to consider when setting up your classroom -

  • Any personal items that can be taken home that will provide additional space in your room should be removed.
  • All items that could "contain" germs should be removed such as pillows, stuffed animals, bean bags, etc.
  • Desks/tables should be spread apart as much as possible in the space you have.
  • Plan for students to have their own individual supplies at their desk area.
  • Include this topic as an agenda item for your first team meeting.
