Battle of Antietam
This battle occurred on September 17, 1862. The Battle of Antietam was the first battle the American Civil War fought on Northern soil. It was also America's bloodiest day, there was more than 22,000 casualties. The northern (Union) fought the southern (Confederates) and the Union won.
Battle of Gettysbury
This was the most important engagement in the American Civil War. This war caused thousands of rebel casualties. It lasted from July 1 to the 3rd of July in the year 1863. On July 4th, General Robert E. Lee was forced to withdraw his army , towards Virginia.
Battle of Chickamugua
September 19 through the 20th of 1864, the army of Cumberland and Tennessee fought. General Rosecans renewed his offensive, aiming to force confederate out of Chickamauga. That battle caused nearly 34,624 casualties (deaths), the Confererate won the battle.
Sherman's Atlanta Campaign.
This happened in the summer of 1864, during the United States Civil War. Sherman faced off against the confederate General Johnston & Hood. There was a series of battles in the Northern part of Ga. Sherman's Atlanta Campaign embarked on his march to the sea.
Sherman's March to Sea.
This was the most destructive campaign against the civilian population. This historic event occurred from November 15, 1864 to December 21, 1864.He abandoned his supplies, and marched across Georgia to the Atlantic Ocean to prove the confederate population that its government could not protect the people from invaders.
