Semester 2 Newsletter
A Note from Mrs Sloggett
I have truly loved teaching 2/3Smith. The enthusiasm and eagerness that everyone brought to our classroom every day has made my teaching days so rewarding and fulfilling.Your personalities and brilliant minds made waking up and coming to work easy! Thank you everyone for an amazing year. I could not have asked for a better group of students to teach. We laughed, we created, we sang, we discovered and we grew!
Literacy
We continued with our guided reading contracts and completed such a wide variety of tasks to complement our learning. We learnt about tornadoes through our study of The Wizard of Oz and used this to build a great understanding of what Dorothy must have gone through!. We created empathy and discussed the importance of country and place, to not only the Aboriginal people but also ourselves. We used this understanding to create our own story along the guidelines established in the book Our Place.
We continued to explore writing for different purposes - to persuade, to inform and to entertain. We also experimented with writing some poetry as well. Be sure to ask your child about their senses poem.
